living the dream

Postby uncle jimmi » December 15th, 2007, 9:24 pm

Well I moved to Coleman Michigan just over one year ago after 41 years of living in south Florida. I bought a 53 year old house that has an addition built on it bringing the sq. ft. to almost 6000. In total there are 28 rooms. The house is divided into two halves, one for me and my riding buddies and one for my wife. In my end of the house there is a pool table, a ping-pong table, and a couple turn tables too.
Outside the house is six acres of beautiful woods with two creeks running through it. There are three ridgelines that run along side of the creeks providing 30 to 40 feet of elevation change. I have never seen the complete cycle of season before, just the endless summer that is Florida. I love the climate change and watching the woods come alive in the spring. It is just as amazing to watch the tree turn colure and drop their leafs.
Everything is so much different here, it is very refreshing.
I arrived in the winter and it’s winter again, for riding that means studded tires and trips to indoor skate parks and Rays MTB Park, or grabbing a snowboard and hitting the slopes.
It has been a life long dream to have an extreme playground of some sort in my back yard, and now I am in fact “living the dream”. The first year was good and I think the second year is going to be five times better. I already have a big head start with lumber stacked up ready to become new stunts, and with one or two more days of Kurt’s help with the Bob-cat the jump park will be epic.
Now my dreams are to build my back yard up until it is worthy of a pro invitational freeride jam / video making event.

. Welcome to my house in MI

Sweet Jimmi! You have got to have one of the most positive and passionate attitudes about this sport than anyone I have met... Keep Rockin' the backyard and I definitely hope to get out there next spring / summer!

Well, we are glad to have you in our wonderful state. If you are ready for a jam session in the spring, I can get some riders down there for you. Great looking stuff.

Michigan is lucky to have you, Uncle Jimmy. I can't wait to do some filming this summer and I hope you are able to come down to Ann Arbor and be a part of it. Maybe sometime I can get up that way, if you'll have me.

Much respect to anyone who really is living their dream and you sure are. Way to go.

Great post Jimmi, best I've seen in a long time. Even before you moved to michigan, you were posting on this website and anyone with half a brain could tell you were the real deal. I sure could and thats why even before I ever met you or talked to you I was inspired to build a stunt with you in mind. People would ask me what I've been working on and I'ld tell them "the Uncle Jimmi skinny". The next question would be, "whos Uncle Jimmi?". "Just some dude from the internet, I dont know him, never talked to him, just some core dude from florida who say's he's moving here", would be my answer. When ever I see your name in the posts its the first one I check out, mainly because your posts are no fluff, no filler, just full on with a great attitude and sense of humor. The best part of your posts are they usually come with pictures. Love the pics.

My friends are all dreamers or there not my friends. For instance, last week my friend Dirty Dan had a dream that a bunch of us were gonna ride sleds from Petoskey to his cabin in Lovells (about 200 miles round trip) and party like rock stars. As you can see from the pics, the dream came true. Although I dont think P Nut ever dreamed he would get lifted by a local giant.

People who stop dreaming are boring, not creative, and a drag to be around.

Good luck Jimmi, keep dreaming, and I hope to see you around this winter.
