Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day – October 6th at Lakeshore Park (Novi Tree Farm)



Help us get Detroit-area kids out on the trails next Saturday! Saturday, Oct. 6, Trips for Kids Detroit is celebrating IMBA's National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. Help us show kids the trails on our mountain bikes and enjoy the BBQ - all for FREE!! This event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Park mountain bike trailhead. Volunteers arrive at 10am.



We’ll have about 20-25 minute rides rotating kids on/off the bikes. When not on the bikes, REI will be offer PEAC pack presentations, food from Whole Foods Market Troy, and other games too! Bring the whole family!

To get to Lakeshore Park:



I-96 to Novi Road (exit just west of I-275), take Novi Road north (past 12 Oaks Mall).

Turn Left on Old Novi Road (4 lights north of I-96)

On Old Novi Road, turn Left at first light onto Lakeshore Drive

Lakeshore Park will be on the your left about a half mile up

In the park, follow the road down towards the Trailhead. You will see the TFKDetroit Banner at the shelter at the trailhead.

We had a great turn out with kids and volunteers alike!!!! The weather was HOT but the kids laughter was contagious. I would like to thank all the volunteers from TTTF, TFK,BTT & the MMBA for making this a great event.

Thank you to Whole Foods for their donation of all the food and refreshments. We even had U.S Forest Ranger Katie & Hootie show up, by the way did I mention I love a woman in uniform




Mike, sweet crash on Chucks Revenge, blood & dirt but you're going to be fine makes it all something we can all laugh about, you earned your medals yesterday!!!!
