Awesome!! Trail day and Kick-Off Event on the same day!! If I'm lucky, I'll get to work on a trail I like to ride, ride said trail, and then drink some beer at Atwater Brewery for the Kick-Off Event.

If the weather gods smile on us, I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend in April.

Come work on the Trail! Come drink beer!! Buy Beer tickets at cycletofitness.com!! Tell them Phil sent ya!

will folks that log trail work hours get a parking permit this year? if so, what are the restrictions, if any, on earning this? Last year there was a end date for when you could have your hours in...

thanks

Yup, Dave says the season permit deal is on again for this year. Same conditions as previous years.

Thanks Loren! That's right... 10 hours of trail work put in before Memorial Day will earn you a park pass for the year.

We have a big trail day planned for April 14. We are tackling a bunch of misc. problems around the park that will help with some drainage issues and other minor problems. We will also be taking care of some basic things like trimming and cleaning up the trail. We'll have a small crew working on dialing in the pump track too.

Alright, this year I'm going to get down with some trail work. Should I just show up on the 14th or what? Figure it's time to start working rather than just riding.

Yup. Probably start 9 am-ish.

Bring any appropriate tools you have - loppers, rakes for trail clean up, minor trimming. Shovels are great for pump track work. No power tools.

If you don't have any tools, that's fine. We'll have extra.

I will try t make it. Last year on the 14th I was in Beaumont getting operated on. Digging dirt should be a lot more pleasent.

That's right, it's trail day time for Lakeshore Park! We'll be having our Spring Trail Day on Saturday, April 14 at 9:00 AM. What do we have planned this year? Well, for the first time in years we won't be cutting any NEW trail, but that doesn't mean there isn't a ton to do. We have a lot of general maintenance to do, and we will have a crew working on finishing the pump track.

Some of the general maintenance is:
Trimming and clearing the trail
Pizza cutter repair
Mud hole repair
Building a few berms to help with flow and help with drainage
Closing some old two track/bandit stuff
Transplanting trees to block off unwanted shortcuts and sight lines

Please bring any tools that you have - rakes, shovels, loppers, trimmers. Wheelbarrows for pump track work. No power tools necessary.

Pump track workers can expect to do a lot of digging, and hauling dirt around.

Please post up here if you plan on showing up, so we know what to plan for. We have enough projects around the trail to keep everyone busy all day long, and that doesn't even include pump track work!

As always, if you get 10 hours of trail work in before Memorial Day you can earn your free park pass for the year. We should get about 8 hours in on the trail day.

Me and my wife will both be there. We've rode Lakeshore a bit last year and want to give something back to the trail. I'm not sure how long we'll be able to stay until, but we'll be there assuming we find a sitter for the kids.
