3rd week June too early to visit Copper Harber?

Hoping to do some riding in the UP next summer but it's been quite a few years since I've been up there. What's the best time to go between mid-June and mid-August (earlier is better) if you hope to avoid tourists, bad weather, black flies?

I went in the last week of July. No issues at all. No bugs either. No black flys, mosquitoes or anything. It was odd. Town was busy, but in a pleasant way.

So is it safe to assume the Long & Shorts is going to be the 3rd weekend in June? I mark my calendar with an asterisk.
