Looks like tomorrow might be a good day to go for a Tree Farm ride. I'm shooting for noonish and was wondering what to expect as I haven't done much riding through snow in a long time. 29er with spike tires and a front fork that doesn't like cold weather.

It's 40° out and you want to ride in the slush? Shame.

Rode today (Sunday pm). There's about 3 miles of well packed snow on the first portions of easy single track and the main doubletrack. That portion is nicely ridable on a fat bike but once you head into other portions of the singletrack the snow is still 10-12" deep and virtually unridable. All the technical features are buried.

Took a quick walk from Dixon to the pump track on the two-track.

2"-4" of ice over most of that surface.

1"-3" of dog *beep* on top of that.

I'm taking a steel snow shovel to the pump track tomorrow to get most of that ice cleared so I can get hoof prints fixed and maybe we can have something dirt to ride on in the next couple weeks.

Pump Track is running awesome!

The 180 degree berm is still a tad wet (just shoveled the last of the snow off it today.) Everything else is tacky to dry. Certainly ready to ride.

I'll be back out there tomorrow (Sunday, 04/06) from about 3pm until I pass out. I'll be digging and riding... if anyone wants to have their best day of the year so far, come on out!

We initially were wishfully thinking to be able to ride Novi this coming Tuesday. So wanted to clarify. with what you said, are you saying we can go ahead and ride this coming Tuesday?

There is no way that the rest of The Farm is ready to ride. I has got to be a giant mud puddle where there is no snow and ice. I believe ColorVoyeur is speaking of just the pump track section.

More like "miraculous"! Also Novi isn't the earliest trail to dry and when the time comes Hick Glen is a better choice.

I walked out there today. I didn't walk all of the actual biking trail but I did many sections and it was actually in pretty decent condition, or at least, the sections I was on. There is still snow in some spots and certainly muddy spots, but many parts are not much different than any other day after a rain during the normal season. My bike is in the shop right now but I should have it back on Tuesday and assuming we get some more sun sometime between Monday-Wednesday I firmly plan to give it a shot. I saw several guys out there today also but I didn't get a chance to talk to them.

How can you even think of ridding the "Farm" ?

There is no way I'd even try walking the single track, it's guaranteed to be way too icy and muddy.

The only section I can vouch for is the pump track, and it's only because you can take the two track at 12 1/2 mile straight there.

**Edit**
There was another mountain biker at the 12 1/2 mile entrance getting ready, but I never even saw him make it to the pump track, so I'm assuming he didn't make it more than a couple feet before realizing the trail wasn't ready.

Please, please, please don't try riding the farm. Parts may seem ok to ride, but you are going to cause serious damage to the parts that aren't ready. It's going to be a few weeks. This time of year, if there is mud, it's not ready. Spring mud is a whole different animal than mid season mud.

I assume by reading a few of the recent posts, that Tree Farm is no where near ready to ride yet at this time of year? Just a hopeful rider looking to get out and hit some single track. Cabin fever, spring fever, whatever you call it is hitting hard right now! Sun is out and it's 50+ degrees for the first time in months!!! :-) Hope to see some good news regarding trail conditions fairly soon!
