There were probably 15-20 logs, stumps, large branches dragged across the trail or leaned against trees blocking the trail. Sure it was just kids, so heads up in the next few days for obstructions.

Found 30 to 40 pieces like this in two spots before the red house and many spots near the freeride stunt north of the cell tower. One bunch of logs and limbs near the boarder of the park and the school system property was blocking a perennial 4x4 entrance that cuts across the singletrack several times - those logs were scattered on the trail so I returned them to blocking duty. I got a better upper body workout than I usually get on a winter ride!!

I was hoping that they would get tired of doing that. Someone is putting a lot of effort into blocking the trail. I was also hoping that everything would be frozen to the ground.

I moved another 4 logs between mile 2 and 3 this afternoon before I blew a stem and walked it out *beep*. They seemed too perfectly placed across the trail to be natural.
Great day for a winter ride.....partly sunny, slightly crunchy with a little powder.

I rode Commerce starting late morning, saw another person I know who bailed because of the icy conditions. I swapped my fat bike's wheelset for the one with DIY studs. I did almost two laps and noticed another set of fat bike tracks. Went pretty well, was able to climb hills, the only issue was the swtichbacks on the opposite side of the bridge. When I left there where at least 4 passes of fat bike tracks, so it should be packed down pretty well. Towards the end of my ride the snow changed from soft powder to a little more crunch or packing type snow.

Sat 28.12.2013, 02:48 pm:
currently the temperature is well above freezing at 42 degrees and the trail is covered by semi frozen ice or slush. 3 riders over there now - hopefully they dont make it all the way around the loop and rut the entire trail prior to the coming deep freeze. I rode 26x2.1 stud-less (re-purposed!) Nokian Extreme's and didn't have too much trouble following snowmobile and ATV tracks around the Hick's 2track and walled lake school system property. Climbing with these tires was especially good.

Anyone think the Hick would be rideable today with 2.1 studded tires?

Should be solid, temps have been well below freezing for over 12 hrs. Should be frozen and firm.

Rode it last night on 26xfat studless.

Recommend studs.

Much of trail is very bumpy from footprints and tricky to navigate with 3 sets or frozen slush tire ruts from you know who..also found more logs and sticks dragged onto trail - moved some rode over the rest

Happy New Year !!!

Rode some sections with a friend late yesterday/Wednesday. 3+ inches of snow on top of ice made it slow and slick.
Since then we've had another (approx) 2 inches of snow..

Attempted to ride out here this afternoon, took one look at the frozen footprints, and decided to go home and ride the trainer. Prior to Saturday, the trail was in decent shape.

The paved path is ridable - studs recommended. Two tracks are ridable. Single track has no packed base or is littered with frozen footprints.

Last night I stomped down about the last 100 ft. of singletrack but it was still not much fun on fat tires even after several passes. The dirt road into the park is pure ice partially covered with slippery packed snow - no studs so I stayed to the side and managed not to fall. The paved path / two tracks / dirt roads are motorized packed and fully ridable studless.

Rode snowmobile trails at the hick and WLSS Property west of Hickory Glen tonight on fat tires but should be ridable on 2+ inch tires at low pressure... Did some more packing on the last 100 ft of single track but the snowmobile tracks are more fun to ride ...no studs needed / plenty of snow over ice. 11 at start and 6 deg at finish but as usual once you get going warmth sets in.
