I posted that up earlier, and it is still there.

It is still rollable on the east end of the log.

I don't often clean trees off the 2-track, but if it's still three during the next trail day, we'll see about it then.

As of 3:00pm Saturday the perimeter two-track, the Snake, Roller Coaster, and Back Nine were all clear with only a few wet spots.
The Pines was surprisingly dry after last night's rain, with the exception of the chronically gooey areas. There is a LONG (formerly TALL) tree across the trail at about .5 mile, just after the bermed left-hander. There is a little log pile on both sides that makes it easy to clear for now.

Going there today to clear the tree in the Pines.
Does anybody want to help build a log pile option in that area?
4:30ish?

I got rid of the fallen tree in the Pines today.
There now is a small log pile option there.

Also, I took care of (5) other little fixes / tweaks in that trail section. See if you can find all of them..
Hint: They are all before the main boardwalk.

Enjoy,
Pete.

Busy beavers have been hard at it again opening closed trails.
Please don't do that. The washed-out drop in the rollercoaster was a fun trail until it fell apart. We already tried to "fix" it. That only lasted until the next rain.
Keeping both trails open is a bad Idea as both trails connect at the bottom of the hill. (I considered leaving both open already).
Not sure who is doing it and likely it's nobody that reads this, but the only tracks on the freshly raked old trail were from a fatbike. For whatever that's worth.

Pete,
That was probably the only place on the trail that a fat bike made any sense.
The raking shows determination, he or they will be back. We should be prepared to re-close many more times.

It wasn't me! :P

And we have ways of discouraging such antics...

Did a little tune-up on the final climbs up to Mt Shelden today. That section of Snakes should be a little better now.

Enjoy,
Pete.

I did more tune-ups Monday.
Tried them out today. I doubt anybody will notice them but they are improvements.

Found a tree down in a bad spot.

Between #27 and parking lot "C". It's the fun little uphill climb that gets used as the last downhill into the 6/12 race pits.
The tree is very near the bottom so if you're trucking down that hill, DON'T.

I plan to get it removed Wednesday after work.

Hit Stony last night...cutting tree roots from the trail? I noticed it in a couple different areas.

I kept a keen eye out for this tonight, and I didn't see anything cut out. What I did see is likely Pete's work, which is putting a bunch of dirt back on roots that had begun getting serious exposure this year. (Many of them were to the point that another six months and they'd have air under them, which would get rid of them.)

Basically, it looked like he took some of the more blown out sections of The Pines and The Snake and polished them up. I thought it was really nice out there and long-needed work.
