Mid-State: Sleepy Hollow

For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

I have not been out lately, figure it must be pretty muddy out there. Anyone else been out on the trails? See any problems let me know.
Still going to try and fix some more seasonal wet spots this year. Two that come to mind are just before where the trail crosses the boat launch entrance rd and to the south of price rd just past the parking area.

Will do. Maybe we can check the hill in back and then flag that little loop at the north side. Probably be after Easter. Campground opens Friday.

GOOD 50% BAD 30 % UGLY 20% to quote Clint Eastwood . But it is a lot dryer than last year at this time and seems to be drying fast , if we could get out of this freeze - thaw cycle it would help .

Hi guys! I went out friday and there was ice on the trails. I just checked out some flat areas that I thought would be dry. There was ice! I was surprised. Awesome news on the updated conditions. I have an all new work schedule. I get out at 10:30-12:00 am. So I will ge able to get out early in the mornings. Sure beats the 3am I was getting out last year. So keep me posted. I can get out there most days now.

Going to go out there tomorrow or friday and get a better take on things. Frost is coming out. Good time to see where the water is flowing. Send me a text too. I have a new phone. The old one got smashed.

Good to have you back with you so much closer it will help with condition updates and work to be done . Maybe we can get the 2 big water problems solved this year out of the Price road parking lot . Those culverts we put in last year have really done the job so far . When you get a day you want to work let me know and I will try and be there . I have a big project at Hopkins Lake too , so will have to work at Sleepy when time allows .

I just went for a little ride. Went from my place down price to the east road crossing. East splint is bad as usual. Took it on accident. After that smooth sailing up to 2 and headed back to the road and went back around throught the park and home. Most the ice is gone. I noticed a little frost in the woods. I could see your tracks in only a couple spots. The trail is going to be good soon. I still cant believe how good it is already! I am going to go out early tomorrow and take a map and make some notes. I gotta get some fitness in the fat little legs of mine! Anytime you want to scout let me know.

Muddy and Wet sums it up.

A big thank you to the St. Johns Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Action Club and Builders Club that came out Saturday April 27th and did a lot of volunteer trail work for us. They moved the trail around 2 large flooded sections west of marker 4 where MSU students started last year. Also, North of marker 3 on the skinny loop, its a little different route there now, further away from the equestrian trail.

Attempted a ride out here yesterday, still way too early. Complete mud slog. It may be rideable in the Northern sections furthest from the lake but I didn't find anything jumping between roads and the trail.
