Crooked lake

Am I supposed to be taking the Crooked Lake trail to complete the Potawatomi ride or am I supposed to take the trail to the left? They look about the same distance ont he map. Also, to bypass Gosslin Lake loop on wet days, I take the right trail at the top of the sand pit, no?

Yes take the right and you'll pass the crooked lake sign.

I'm not very good w/the shortcuts and what they bypass, but it sounds about right.

Yes on both. No need for the short cut this time of year tho. Very dry back there.

Gosslin was a mess yesterday afternoon. I was a slick as vasoline.

Gosling will do that any time we get a good soaking out this way. If you ride it you will probably do more damage to your drive train then the trail. That loop is what it is and it's not going to change it's character until the trail tread is routed to higher ground and maybe board walked a little bit . Just a little, cause I hate board walks.

I was out before the rain and it was dry and dusty. We needed this rain bad.

Oh I paid the price coming off of one of said boardwalks. My front tire washed as soon as I hit the dirt (mud) and down I went...hard. Next wet day I will bypass the loop.

Go left @ the #9 post (at the bench), to complete the Poto. #9 to #2 is the Poto and Crooked Lake trails combined.

If you turn right @ #9 post you will be riding backwards (for bikes) on the Crooked Lake Trail.

thanks Barry! Looks like there is quite a bit of confusion out there on this section. Know I know, although that wrong way section of Crooked lake was kinda fun

Somebody once told me to always go to the left at Poto untill you are supposed to go right. Seems like strange advice but it actually really makes sence once you have ridden the trail a few times.
