Headshok not locking out

headshok model ultra fatty dlr, 80mm. There is about 3/4 to 1 inch of travel in the lockout setting. lockout worked great last outing, lockout knob moves freely as expected. Not sure if there is air in there from transport or what, does it seem safe to y'all to ride as is?

Headshok not locking out

Take it to Tree Fort and talk to Jess. They do a great job with Headshocks.

It sounds like something in there moved and is allowing oil/air to move past the seals. I had it happen with mine once. Tree Fort took great care of mine.

Yes, jess is great and has been working on my cannondales for the past two years. He was not in today, so I was looking for other sources of information. It will most likely end up at treefort.

The control rod connection is probably broken inside at the base. ( I had the same problem )
Have Tree Fort send it to C'Dale for repaire. You will probably receive a new cartarige. I think C'Dale charges a straight $75.
I am sure that Tree Fort "knows how to fix it," but a factory repair will be better. The $75 covers any parts. After my LBS attempted to service my Lefty they sent into C'Dale, The fork came back from C'Dale with the latest, 2012 air spring.
The great thing about C'Dale is that they will service a 10 or 15 year old fork: other brands- not so much!
You might just need a new control rod. A simple repair if you can get the part. Anything else, send it in to C'Dale!

As other said, not a crazy fix. My Reba SL was doing this recently. (We kind figured I road locked out too much) but Rochester Bike Shop fixed mine right up, their turn around is insane quick too.
