E-mail notifications

Postby Laser4G63 » April 19th, 2012, 9:46 am

For some reason, I am not longer getting notified when someone replies to a thread I posted in or for PMs. I haven't changed the options and was getting the e-mail before a few days ago.

Thanks, for bringing this up, I've actually been looking into this already and will do so more this evening.

Best I can tell the cause of this is my moving things to a new server and thus new IP and this new address not quite yet trusted by other ISPs for outgoing mail. When I get some time I'll get the SPF/DKIM stuff kicking again, which should help this along.

Mail is going out and delivery is definitely working, but I think some ISPs are currently falsely flagging the stuff as not-quiet trusted.

Yep, but it flags everything as neutral... What sucks is I tried signing up with AOL to be whitelisted and they threw it back saying that the reverse DNS for the server matches the emergency (or whatever) contact address, and thus I was denied.

It sucks. Email whitelisting for servers is a labyrinth.

I'll just have to get SPF/DKIM going for Sendmail and let it all age.

I just implemented DKIM and SPF, so hopefully ISPs will stop flagging the messages as questionable. I've got a huge outbound queue of mail for AOL users that's backed up. Hopefully that'll flush soon.

Thanks, that's good to hear. Sounds like AT&T, Comcast, and AOL are the problem ones for now.

I'm surprised AOL is still around. Really, who is with AOL? That is so 1997. ;-)

AOL still has some relevant and highly trafficked web sites. Engadget is one that I check out sometime. There are many many people that use AOL dial up since change is more difficult to deal with for millions of luddites.
