I did a little trimming today...In the Pines mostly. Managed to drop the large hanger in the Pines just before the first little boardwalk. Thanks to a couple of eager riders, we managed to get it clear of the trail.

Don't forget, next Saturday is the 6/12 endurance race out there. It will be going on all day and will be using most all of the trails.

Pete.

I'm really looking forward to this. On the upside it doesn't bring with it nearly the speed (and impatience) that the XC races or TT do.

Haha...it was nice to see ya out there Pete. It seems I rarely see you on a bike actually and typically only on trail days...lol. It was myself and my boss that gave ya a hand. Thanks for the work out there!

Pines and the Coster/Back 9 have a few avoidable slick spots. I rode very little of the 2 track, however what I did hit has standing water in a few spots.

A hurmerous and half seious obseration:
Hikers might be marking claim to Stoneys Mt. Bike trails.
Somebody is building "inuit Inukshuks" like monuments on the trail.
To the north:
"The practice of erecting inuksuit in parks has become so widespread that Killarney Provincial Park, on the north shore of Ontario's Georgian Bay, issued a notice in 2007 urging visitors to “stop the invasion” of inuksuit."
(wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuksuk)
Is this pseudo intellectualism, or an invasion from the great white north?

Runner's too. I could swear everyone has read Born to Run recently and is motivated to become an ultra runner. The trails have been over run with hikers and runners lately.

Yup, but we're the once with an agreement with the park and actions to back it up. :-D

Road out here today just about an hour ago. Great shape. Some water on the two track between the trailhead parking and the pines where it always is but everywhere else was awesome. Singletrack was in great shape and the new reroute is really starting to get worn in nicely!

rode the 6/12 hour course today. As stated water on the double track where expected.
on the cut out from the coaster at the half way point, there is a large tree limb down, it is hollow and broke, so not totally blocking the trail but setting up a chicane right in front of one of the perpetually soft spots. Could probable use a few folks to drag it further off the trail (it was a bit much for one)

I run, ride, and hike at most of the parks in the Troy / Rochester Hills area.

I guess I could counter by saying that a lot of people must have seen or heard of the Leadville mountain bike films and want to ride these days. :icon_tongue:

Offtopic, but the nice thing about running is that a new pair of shoes for the season cost me maybe $120.00. I still haven't been able to afford the $$$ it will cost to upgrade to a 29'er, and I'm spending significant $$ this season on lighter backpacking gear to shave weight.

I still enjoy all of them, and am looking forward to my 3rd time at Iceman in Nov.

Or, they could be training for the half marathon that is going thru the trail system on 5/20.

There are 29ers for sale as cheap as $250 obo in the Classifieds... If you are a strong runner you can easily rock an SS, (You can't gear your feet down on the hills), just a thought.

Giant Bikes has their huge demo trailer out at the WB parking lot, as of this morning. Looks like all the higher end stuff.
