Awesome event.....thanks for setting this up!!! Bummer we had to bail early due to other commitments, but hope to do this again soon. Mountainbikers truly are just plain, cool people.

Was a lot of fun guys! We should do this more often!
Really cool to see a diverse selection of bikes running the tech stuff.

I haven't spun out my gearing like that in a while :)

P.S. Sorry about that tree Ann Arbor... I didn't mean to kill it with my shoulder.

Dudes,
thanks so much for coming out! I thought that I might have 4-5 people show up. I didn't think that there would be up to 20, with about 15 riders doing the whole thing. All the riders were courteous of other trail users, and made having a good time their top priority. Everyone there, including myself, rode some trail in a way or direction they had not ridden it before.

I wish the bcar/leroi posse could have made the next couple stages, you would have dug them! The run thru girlscout was perfect....fast, smooth, techy, with a little sprint climb in the middle.

I had more fun on my bike then I have in quite a while, and it was all because of the people who showed up. I went to get an espresso right after the event, and was immediately talking about how to make the next one bigger. The next event will have some new stages, a really fun super stage (think when rally cars race around a town square) more high speed downhill, a little less pedaling, and a chance to test everyone's skill.

We had everything from an 8" downhill bike that rode the whole event to a carbon 29er to a rigid 29er. The downhill bike beat 29ers and trail bikes down a run that had an uphill section, and Bcar on his rigid 29er made it down the rooty, technical run blazing fast! It's all about the rider in the end, and thanks again to those who came out. This summer we'll do another one.

Videos are posted! Unfortunately I didn't get video of all four runs, just a couple of the Ridge trail and one of the standard DH run. HD versions available by clicking on the YouTube logo and changing the quality settings on their player (for some reason I couldn't get HD to embed properly).

Here's one of my timed run down the standard DH trail:

And here's one of me following 300hp down the steep section of the ridge trail:

AWESOME vid!! You were haulin' down the DH! Thanks for sharing that. Wish I had made the first turn at the berm so that I could have done the actual trail that was being timed, but I got some bonus riding in as a result :-)

Now, if only I hadn't stopped to "take a break" in the middle of my first timed run...
Next time I'll know where the finish line is, haha.
