Tree Farm Relay 2012!!!

Postby WallEyed » March 28th, 2012, 12:44 pm

It's that time of year again... time to sign up to get your Relay on!
7th annual Tree Farm Relay on Saturday, July 28!!!

The 2011 Relay was our best event yet, and we are looking at ways to make the 2012 event even bigger. We capped the race at 100 teams last year, but thanks to our great relationship with the city of Novi, we have come up with a parking plan that will allow us to expand the field to 125 teams!!! This race will be a fundraiser for the MCMBA (Motor City Mountain Biking Association), an IMBA Chapter, and will help to keep our local trails in great shape!

Expect another great day of racing and fun! We are planning out a new special surprise for the start of the Sport wave. We plan on having music and BBQ in the front of the park and some special fun courtesy of HoDaddy at the Crater!!

Start planning your teams, planning your costumes and get ready for the coolest race around!

Do you own a Fat Bike?

I'm looking to put together a team consisting of Fat Bikes. Not uber-competitive, so don't let that hold you back. Just out to have a good time with our Fat Bikes.

Post up or PM if interested. :D

FWIW, for most who participate, this is more an excuse to use public land to party and drink beer, and less a race. 90% of the teams will be "just out there to have fun".

BTW, own a fat bike? Able to borrow one? :D

Seriousness may actually be frowned upon at this event. This is less a race and more a velo-masquerade ball.

BEWARE: Rumor has it there is a coc.tail wielding maniac in those woods.

Come out and join the fun. I'm pretty sure if you come in last place... You still win!

Come on! I got word censored for coc.tail?

How technical/not technical or tight/open is the course? Just wondering if this is a race I can do with one of the kids (age 7) on the tag-along and make it a family event.

Much of the course is tight singletrack, and includes the expert section. There are log piles and switchbacks without bypasses in the course. Not hard on a bike, but I wouldn't recommend doing this with your tag-along.

There are things that go on in that jungle you won't want your kids to witness until they are at least 40!

I for one am completely appalled this race is happening, again. It is absurd to think about grown men in fish net leggings and tooth fairy outfits frolicking around in a public park. They should be ashamed of themselves for this is far from proper manner. And, oh my, that beast of a man . . . in the woods by that big hole in the ground. That heathen of a cave man . . . the way he gallivants at you like a kangaroo.
