I was hoping for 3 in the top ten, but my shoulda been top 5 finisher was out of it :( Val di sole is a whole different ball game. Its steep and rooty and completely like PMB. Minnaar still kills it there, but Hill is looking strong again, and a top 10 finish for a flat pedal rider who sucks at pedaling out of PMB is a great start for him.

Sooo cool to see how hard the riders have been training this year. The worldcup is so sick!

I really think that Gwin's approach to off-season fitness and trainig in 2010/2011 is going to change the fitness outlook for all the top racers. You see a handful of guys that have slimmed down and turned up the strength and fitness level big time for 2012, I bet more guys will follow suit for the 2013 season.

For sure... Minaar lost 20 lbs. for this season, and it's not like he was a porker to begin with. The game has been changed in a way that hasn't happened in a long time.

Definitely looking forward to Val di Sole, though I'm a little worried since my team did so well at PMB since it's a totally different track. Hopefully they've got the technical skills to match their apparent pedaling power.

Wow that looks sick. Some looks fun as *beep*....and some I think I'd leave to the pros.

What site do you watch the races on?

They air live on Redbull.tv but Pinkbike.com, Vitalmtb.com and others all have the broadcast live streaming as well. Also, they usually post a replay of the entire broadcast in case you missed the race. Here's the replay from Pietermaritzburg: Pinkbike Pietermaritzburg World Cup 2012

Thanks.

Are there any good trails up near OL btw? I'm looking to branch out a bit.

wow, I wasn't kidding. I lost 22 lbs, 21 of those lbs were fat according to the scale and calipers operated by Jess.

Where do you normally ride? My "local" trails are Tree Farm, Pontiac Lake, Hickory Glen, Milford, and Highland - all within a 30min drive of me (Proud Lake is also close by, but I've only ridden there once). Occasionally make it down to Maybury, out to Island Lake, or over to Poto. I'm planning to get up to the Metro North area this summer as well to check out Bald Mtn, Addison, Bloomer etc...

Looks like we hit a lot of the same ones. I do Maybury the most and Island Lake a lot... Haven't tried Milford of Highland yet. How do those stack up to PLRC and Poto? And ditto on the Metro-North area. Haven't been out there at all.

Highland is mountain biking, pure and simple. IMHO it is the least sanitized public use trail in SEMI

Agreed... it's the only trail that I always feel really good about finishing the whole thing. It's much more of a grind than either Pontiac or Poto... much tighter, twistier, and rockier. Man, I gotta get out there soon 8)

Milford is a fairly tight little trail... only about 5 miles long, but similar in difficulty and style to the expert loop at Tree Farm.

Do any of you guys know why there is such a big gap in time between the first and second race of the season?

I think it's partly because the first race is in South Africa, so they try to get it in before the rainy season starts there... then the rest of the races are in the Northern Hemisphere (mostly Europe), so they have to wait for the snow to melt off the Alps and such.

Also, I hope you're all paying attention to the injury reports... Gee Atherton broke himself in practice recently, so if you still have him on your team, you might want to make a trade.
