Not 100% dried out, but rideable, best to walk past a couple of spots.

The few greasy spots before the model airplane field can be ridden past without issue, but past the field the new reroute I walked and fixed a few ruts on one hill climb, one was a good 3" deep rut. I avoided what some call the "toilet bowl" and went right up the "Easy" section as the other looked like a greasy descent. Typically on that one I would expect the following hill climb to be pretty bad seeing the descent was muddy. The first right turn on the last hill climb was really soft, I walked that turn and the rest was OK to ride. Hard to say how long any of my fixes will last. I only had those two areas where I got off and walked, the rest was OK.

On the flat sections where there were any fresh ruts drying out I tried flattening them with my fatbike.

^^^ What he said. I was not as smart, and rode down the chute, hoping the uphill after was good. Not so much so, walked that, which still was sort of a mess. That may be a while to dry out, seeing how it is on the north side of the slope... The rest of that section was fine though.

Looks like this next week should be good, as long as the rain days are minimal.

Anyone out yesterday or this morning? Is the trail good to go for the season?

I think I am going to risk leaving early from work and heading out to PLRA. I will ride the first four miles which usually isn't too bad sans a couple of bad spots. If it is really bad, I will bail at the campground road and take that to the last mile with the uphill switch back, which also dries out fairly fast. It always seems that the back half or the loop north of the campground road is the worst when wet. I suspect it should be ok though in most parts.

I heartily and enthusiastically concur with that assessment. Fast tacky trail, sunny warm evening, spring peepers singing their come love me songs, it really doesn't get much better than that.

Glorious. Tread was maleable and leveling out nicely. Lots of happy frogs and bikers out there this evening!

Conditions were fantastic! I was completely surprised. There were probably at least a dozen or so riders, probably more, making loops. I stopped at the air field to watch some of the RC planes that were out in force, pretty cool. I am no trail expert, but I think PLRA is in it's groove of drying out within 24 hours already. If it rains the day before and is sunny/warm the next day, it should be good to go. It's going to be a nice long riding season. Here's to getting in shape :icon_smoking: ( we need a smiley toasting beers...I've seen them...like this one Image)

Yes took a leisurely lap around 5 and the conditions could not be better. No mud, no trees, no problems!
