On another note. There has been some concern of the widening of the trail from the entrance road heading to post 4. The DNR Park Stewardship crew is going to do a controlled burn in that area . They have raked and widened the trail as it will be used as part of the fire brake. It has nothing to with xc skiers or any other user group working the trail. As for the missing rocks , ah......rock poachers maybe.

Thanks G! I will also post up this report to the Poto Trail Runner's FB page so they have some idea of what is going on as well.

As always , the earlier the better. Rain Thur. so it will be a mud fest for a couple of days. But I'm thinking from what I've seen so far and if this weather keeps getting warmer , we will have an early start to the season.

Explored a bit today while temps were still below freezing. It sure seems like it's close to being ready for midday rides...amazing for this time for year.

Tree down across the trail on the downhill before Little Mac.

The "little Mac" is the bridge that crosses over the channel between Half Moon and Watson Lakes.
Early morning Poto ride will be frozen. Clear cold night means a long hard freeze. Just watch the sunny spots late in the morning for thawing.

Zoom in to that spot on google earth and there's an icon you can click on for a photo of the bridge.

First, I second the thanks for all of the hard work clearing the trail. I hit the trail about 8:40 this am and it was simply fantastic. What a hoot! I saw two trees down. The first was small diameter and I am sorry but do not remember its location other than to say first third of the trail? The second was a big one. I cannot pinpoint the exact location but it is on the way back from the north end. There is a place / spot where a red brick house backs up pretty close to the trail. In the back yard there is a bright blue plastic tarp over something - a wood pile? The tree is right there - root ball and all completely out of the ground.
Personal note: today is the first time I did the complete loop clean - got up everything. Only dismounts were to take a breather - and to walk around that tree.
