A little route from last year's Gravel Grinder.
Or if you want something that's nearer the Waterford/Clarkston area, check out the FRCC Back 40 route maps on this PAGE.
These Back 40 ride routes show the starting point at Independence Elementary school off M-15/Ortonville road north of I-75 but many local riders also start out at Depot Park in Downtown Clarkston and take Holcomb road out over I-75 to link up with Reese or Allen road on the south end of the routes.
Mmmmm, HOTT!!
And the Flying Rhinos do a Thursday night Cyclocross / MTB dirt road ride every week starting April 5th at 6 PM. I've been a club member for several years but just finally broke down and bought a cross bike and will be doing this ride for the first time this year. My understanding is that it starts at a very reasonable pace (15 MPH) in the early season but will ramp up from there. By mid summer it gets very fast. So if you're thinking about doing it I'd hop in early in the season.
Since I'm plugging the club I'll also mention that they rent the waterford road racing course on Tuesday nights to do road riding coaching sessions. They break up into 3 groups so there's something for every level of fitness / ability. We do everything from basic group riding, to rotating pace-lines to mock races and time trials.
Most of these activities are for club members but I believe they'll allow non-members to try it out before joining. For more information call Kinetic Systems and talk to Jeff.
