I will have a winter build underway as of this weekend. My parts and frame showed up yesterday and wheels are due in today. I'll get a pick or two posted up later but I look forward more to posting a review once I have the chance to log a few miles. The build is based around a Transition Bandit 26er. It's going to be weighted very much to the trail bike end of the spectrum with complete overkill in all the right spots.

Built this up over the winter. Now I was able to hit the trails for our first ride.

ImageImageMy 2012 907 fatty. Uma 90 rims setup tubeless with checkered duct tape and stans 100mm wide rim tape. 1x7 drivetrain using x9, 10 speed components. Larry front, endo rear. Aluminum 907 fork. Avid cr brakes, origin 8 sub mountain crank with 29 tooth stock ring and race face bash guard. Bike feels like normal mt. bike. No weird lumbering fat bike feel. Under 32 lbs. too.

Yeah, it's 12x142 rear and a 15mm thru axle on the front. I should have taken a shot of the rear drop out before I built it up but this is the best I have.

good call on getting the thru rear end. All my bikes run a thru setup, and I think it is the least utilized most effective way to improve your bike. Enjoy the tracking, that thing is gonna rip.

A frame with a rear thru axle was high on my list of priorities when I started frame shopping - I can't wait to try it out, I have been riding the front thru axle for a couple years and there's no way I'd go back to standard 9mm QR so I have high hopes.

Do you have tool free rear axles on your bikes? I want tool free removal for the rear but I have only seen one after-market product from Rockshox. I was hoping to find at least one more option.

I don't have tool free removal on my bikes. My Sunday has a standard 12mm axle with an 8mm allen head and two pinch bolts as well. I converted my APB 9mm remedy to a 12x135 thru axle myself, so it uses a standard 12mm bolt with a 10mm allen. The maxle tool free 12mm is a cool product, but there has been some trouble in the past with it coming loose. I believe SRAM has addressed the issue. Fortunately, there is a quick and easy solution for you. Check out the DT SWISS 12x142 RWS skewer. It is a 12x142 thru bolt with a position adjustable skewer on the end, so you can thread it in and tighten it, then clock the skewer so it is out of the way.

I made a few changes to my DH bike (fork, stem, bars, pedals, seat, tires) , my XC bike remained mostly the same except for some new grips.
