My Dad and I were out riding the east, north and west loops yesterday. My Dad just got a new bike so it was his inaugural ride on it.. and no other place would be more fitting than riding it for the first time at Holdridge Lakes (our home trail for the past 15+ years). Another great day to be out riding bikes. Aside from some greasiness and a few downed trees here and there, the trail was in perfect condition.

I saw a few deer and a couple hunters while out there. One of the hunters was cool and didn't seem to care either way that we were out there riding (we talked for a while in the parking lot). Then there was Ron. :D

Hey Ron, did you get a deer? I heard a couple rounds go off (in your general location) about 10 minutes after we talked with you (we were in the parking lot). I actually saw a deer and got it moving in your direction about 2 minutes after talking with you (over on Lakeshore). Just thought I may have helped you bag one by being out on the trails and keeping the lil guys movin.

Was out today road north and west. Didnt look like there had been anybody but hikers on the trails since the last snowfall. There are quite a few trees down in the west loop. I tried to move a couple, but they are gonna need a chain saw.

It felt like a cyclecross race. All and all a good ride though.

Rode the grinder today. Well up to Orchard and then I was so sick of getting off my bike I decided to pull the plug. There are many down trees. I can't think of any miles that don't have atleast 1 down tree. Some are so bad you almost can't walk around them. Going to be a fun spring cleanup.

The West and North were fine after the trees were cleared. East is still covered in down trees which I'm going out this afternoon to work on. TC Ron

Just leaving Holdredge now. The trails are okay, my bike didn't get dirty but it's a little bit soft in a lot of spots. Might not be a bad idea to just stay away from for a couple of days. Being close all the water I think it's making the trail little bit softer than probably would normally be. That said I'm hoping Eastloop is a little bit drier and might even be a able to ride that next day or two.

Cleared trees on East loop from 1.5 mile to 7 and return down old shields rd. then return thru the woods to 15. I did not clear meadows or Orchard which are too wet in the spring to ride anyway. The trail was in awesome shape with no mud or wet spots. I don't know if there are any trees down from .75 to 1.5 if any knows please be specific when posting as carrying a chain saw for miles is not easy and if a 60 year old man can carry or drag the tree off please remove it yourself.
Thanks; T.C. Ron

Thanks alot for clearing all that stuff. Next time I ride and run into trees down I'll click the lap button on my Garmin and post the file.

Ride before 9:30 a.m. and it should be fairly solid. Temp climbs above freezing after that.

Rode the first 7 of Grubers and return tru the woods to parking, trail was perfect, no mud only one soft spot at 2 mile which is almost always. One small tree down at 13.7 mile. West has been hit hard by the U know riders, U know the ones that don't contribute, don't pay in or contribute physically.

Went out today and walked some of the west loop (bike is still apart and waiting on cash for a new drivetrain... :( ). Still some sloppy bits, but 90% of the trail that I walked (which was the last mile or so) was reasonably firm. Another week of little or no rain and the trail will firm up nicely. TC Ron mentioned that the North loop is a sloppy mess and probably shouldn't be ridden yet (Hi Ron, nice to finally meet you!), and that the East (Grubers) is ready to go now.

Can I get first hand confirmation of this? Would love to get in a tough ride like this sometime this week.

The first seven of Grubers was perfect, a couple trees down, I don't recomend Meadows or Orchard and have not cleaned them. I used the return down old shields and return thru the woods which was great except for a massive tree mess at the beginning of the long uphill about 14.3 mile. I'm planning on doing some chain saw work this Saturday the 17th at 10am and some trail tread repair. Would appreciate some help. Thanks; Ron Arnott H/F/T.C.
