LOHS trail is great riding. The new addition is also ridable after you cross a small wet section at the start.

I have not yet ridden this trail. I have been riding Addison and Bald North most of the season. I just moved to the sub-division on the south side of Bald Mountain. I found a trail out of my sub that goes right onto a road in BM. Just wondering if there is any way to explain to me how to catch the trail. Me and a buddy are leaving my house at wish tonight to ride.
Thanks

Just got back from Ohio so it may be too late but when you are on the park road, head away from Lapeer Rd, toward the back of the park. Follow the road past the swimming beach, boat launch, and then when you come to the next pond there will be a trail going up the hill on your left. This takes you to Greenshield Rd. Cross Greenshield and onto the next section of BM trail.

Turn left at the first fork and then left again at the next fork. After the second left you will ride for a short while before seeing a trail come in on your left. This is the first trail into school property. When you go up that trail go past the trail on your right until you come to the open field. Then turn left and follow around the pond and up the hill toward the parking lot. Near the top of the hill the trail turns back to the right and down a hill and then toward the back of the school. Once on the gravel drive take it behind the school.

From there either go behind the ball fields and then up the hill toward the soccer/football fields and follow the trail from there. Eventually you will come to the place where you came out of Bald Mountain. The problem in winter is that you won't be able to see some of the trail path in the confusing sections in the open fields.

We will probably be riding this Friday night from G's at 7:00 if you want a night time tour.

We did a 15 mile ride from my house, we jumped on the lohs trail between markers 4 and 14 and rode as much as we could find. We will try to make it Friday night. Thanks for the long detailed reply.

There are two entrances to the school off the BM trail, but both are between markers 3 and 4. Between 4 and 14 is the trail that follows the shooting range fence and ends at Kern, Hope to see you this Friday.

Not very fast, with regrouping at various spots if the group gets strung out. We don't want to leave anyone alone in the woods at night and 20 degrees. We normally do one lap in the winter and then back to G's to warm up/hydrate  Depending on snow conditions we may skip one or two of the hillier LOHS sections. So normally about 10 miles with the ride to and from G's. If the BM trail is in good shape we sometimes detour into there, depending on group preference.

If I am there, the pace really takes a hit. You'll have no problem. :D

Lake Orion High School trail is getting rock hard again; tomorrow and Friday will be great riding before the snow comes in. I marked the recent half mile addition with reflectors for night riding. Join us this Friday night at 7:00, starting from G's.

I will be there. Only canceling if we get dumped on before 7:00. I don't think that will happen though. But it may be snowing pretty good while we are riding and turn it into an adventure. But that makes the after ride beverages even better

Great riding this afternoon. 2-3 inches so fairly easy riding but slick in spots under the snow.

While checking the trails yesterday I found that LOHS is not immune to the knuckleheads that want to ride as soon as the snow melts. It looked like two riders decided to use the first 3/4 mile or so of trail and consequently left ruts of varying depth in spots. Fortunately it appears they decided to skip the majority of the trail. With the postponement of the race and the warmer weather, I will try to get out this weekend to smooth/fill in the tracks.

I walked a lot of the trail today and it looks like at least two bikes had been around a majority of the trail, leaving the infamous pizza cutters, and some rather deep. Good thing they weren't riding while I was out there :x

Looking at some of the elevation changes on the LOHS property. There is a lot more once you get in the woods.
