Oh boy, yes, I misread what you wrote and jumped to the wrong conclusion when I saw the word "disassembled". I haven't been over to the Bob's Supremacy hilltop logpile for weeks, so I didn't know that anything had been done to it. Does anybody know anything about this? Did somebody dumb it down because they had trouble with it, or just straight up vandalize it? Does anybody know if it was deteriorating over time? Can it be ridden safely right now?

Basically, they took apart the leading ramp so there's just one big log at the top with no ramp up to it. The notched timber that was laid in to stabilize the pyramid has been taken out and is laying on the ground along with the removed logs. The exit doesn't look like it was messed with though. I would consider it un-rideable as it sits but I didn't try it.

Hmmm. It was fully intact as of Saturday when I was out there. One thing I did notice though now that you mention it was the extremely high number of people out there hiking on the advanced trails with bunches and bunches of little kids. They were running all over the place and jumping up and down on the stunts and running back and forth on them. I don't think they realized that those trails are primarily used by Mountain bikers because I kept getting strange looks every time I came up on a group of them.

Was glad to see a ton of people out on such a nice day but it kind of cut my ride short. Not sure I would want my kids running back and forth on some of those stunts like the roller coaster on DBR and the one Reid is currently working on. And yes they were using Reids new stunt that he is working on like a jungle gym.

Oh boy ...

Maybe they thought the log pile was a giant Lincoln Log set put there just for them!

Did the put the log back on top when they were done, like they were supposed to?

Actually, I don't use the "logs on top" method to block stunts from being ridden any more, having learned a lesson about human nature ... the one I dismantled the exit of (Pitchfork on Hellboy) has a huge pile of sticks on top of it as well as a large upside-down "U" of boards nailed into the base log and extending up a couple of feet above the entry ramp. Anybody who goes to the effort of clearing all of that out probably deserves whatever they get if they ride it exit-less. I am not expecting anybody to go to the trouble, though ...

Okay, got out there today to check out the log pile at the top of the hill at the start of Bob's Supremacy. I was pleasantly surprised to find very little damage, it didn't look like vandalism, and since it didn't seem rideable I doubt it was an attempt to make it easier either. I suspect the kids and families that Shaun mentioned were just playing with it. I was able to get it back to its original state fairly quickly, and then rode it three times and checked to see that it hadn't budged. And so I declare it to be open for business once again. Enjoy!

Officially closed to bikes. Try it for xcountry skiing!

With walking being my only exercise option for the past few weeks, I've covered a lot of the trails on foot pretty regularly. There are a few fresh tracks that are encountered on every walk. Some on the tech trails. Tracks have been left. Given the rain and warm temps the 'bandits' aren't helping things. The worst mud grooves were on the newest section of trail.
Park says it is CLOSED, honor it.
In past winters when the ground is bare and frozen solid riding there seemed to be okay. Not sure what the position is now.

Regardless, I wasn't pleased to see the tracks or grooves.

Is there a way we can open ONLY the 2 new "field" sections to get them broken in!?!

Not pleased at all Anne. Was walking out there the other day with a friend (non mountain biker). He even said to me "*beep* what a mess, I thought the trails were closed to bikes right now, why would you even want to try to ride in this crap?" At least I know what a few of us have to look forward to on our next trail day.

The one upside was to see all the deer tracks. Not so warm about the mud ruts.

Was out there today, pleased to see no tracks near MacNamara, saw no bikes all day, but then on the way back I met a rider. Told him he's not allowed to ride as he went by, but he just ignored me and continued on. I yelled after him to stay out of the mud, but he went right through a muddy area shortly after that. Maybe he had headphones on and didn't hear me (fat chance!). Big, quite tall guy, neon green shirt, black bottoms and a black bike. Ran into Jeff in the parking lot by coincidence. Beautiful day. Lots of icy sections in the shadows, even after warming up through the day. Those sections are definitely too slippery to ride.
