Dragonball Run changes

Postby reidabel » November 16th, 2011, 9:51 pm

Okay, so who did the major upgrades to Dragonball Run? Unless I missed a thread, somebody is seriously avoiding taking credit for a job well done. I rode through with Christina today and we found that the two up-and-overs now have bypasses cut out of the logs they are based on. In addition to now having a bypass, the particularly tricky angled one with the skinny upramp has been totally reworked and improved. Nice job, whoever you are! Thank you very much! Now, step up and take your credit! Jeff, was that you?

Thanks, glad you like it. I felt it was time for that skinny little upramp to go. I busted my but on it as many times as I cleared it and have seen plenty of other people bite it there as well. I think it is a lot more stable now and you have an option to go around as well. I also built two more options for a total of three and a bypass on the second up and over as well.

I didn't want to say anything untill everything was completed and ready to ride. They are all good to go. I also made a few other minor changes here and there further down that I feel will improve the over all flow of that section of trail. Removed a few fallen trees that have been there for quite some time now and removed the large log pile that was all roted out. I don't have any plans to rebuild anything there but it could be done if somebody wanted to do so and there is already a bypass in place. I feel that with the changes that have been made this section can probably be added to the Burchfield Time Trial next year but still offer some of the technical features it has been known for.

I rode this on Saturday with Shaun and it was a wonder to see the glow of fatherly pride in his eyes. Of course I had to listen to him whine about the chainsaw palsy he had going in his forearms and hands, all while I'm on a fully rigid bike for the first time in 4 or 5 years and me all of 49 years old and feeling every bit of it by the end of that ride!

Heck of a job on this section, though, Shaun! Thanks for the hard work!

I can relate! I leave a cooler of ice and a towel in the car when I work on stunts and ice my left wrist and elbows on the ride back home. And this is with our modern anti-vibration chainsaws, I can only imagine how bad it was back in the old, old days. The vibration of the saw would nearly permanently numb people's hands, I've been told.

That right most option is actually quite challenging, due to the left entry and left exit. I made quite a spectacle of failure on it today, while only making it once.

Luckily, there is a 100% authentic Tree Farm spec log pile directly to the left, for those of us who can hardly peddle a bike.

Good stuff.

I probably couldn't peddle my bike well either, as I'm no salesman.

I sometimes pedal very poorly, but if you ever see me petal my bike, please kick my @ss. I will deserve it.

Saw those new options today, couldn't make the rightmost one on a couple of tries, gave up. Tricky.

Saw that the big teeter-totter is now completely stripped of boards and one section appears to be getting ready for reuse somewhere else. I wonder where it will end up? Cool that somebody is doing some more work out there. I looked at the Hellboy stunts a bit more today, planning what I'm going to do next, even if I don't get to it this year. We'll see ...
