Mohican Wilderness - Saturday Nov. 19

Postby 98HooKooFreeRider » November 16th, 2011, 8:35 am

A group of us are planning on heading down to Mohican this Saturday for one last hoorah on the DH bikes for 2011.

Does anyone know if the trails are still open and rideable?

If so, have the trails been raked? None of the guys going are afraid of putting in a little work but we just need to pack some rakes if there is a need to open up any spots with a lot of leaves down. We would of course rake the leaves back onto the trails before we leave just in case the trail crew down there wanted them covered for the winter.

Thanks guys/gals!

There's a trail conditions forum at joinomba.org with an update posted today (11/17) for Mohican S.P. For the Wilderness trail, the last post was almost a month ago (10/21). You could give Kim's a call (419) 908-8299 before you go down. They're usually a good resource for local trail conditions and weather.

No pics but I can do ya one better.. GoPro vids :) We were all dealing with mechanical issues and the rain/cold was keeping us from being able to ride at 100%. That being said, Mohican never disappoints!! We'll be back next spring, you can count on that!

Powerline Run - Last one of the day but overall great run!

Trail 2/Rocks Trail - Another pedal stroke and the outcome would have been totally different lol

I have some top to bottom runs of each trail that I still need to upload. Will get that done today hopefully. :D

kinda glad we bailed on the powerline run on our scouting trip to mohican,
we parked down by the shack where you finished and started climbing up.
after a lot of climbing and with no real idea where we were (and the afternoon getting short)
we decided to just coast back down to the car.

alls i can say is i understand why you downhillers have your seat so low

now don't get me wrong, still would love another ride thru the state park
ain't nothing like a trail that makes you start hatin the downhills cause of the climb that comes next

Looks like a sick run. Could you even attempt this with a hardtail?

Could you? Absolutely! Tim Dunbar rocked the *beep* out of Mohican on his old XC hardtail back in the day! I will dig up some pictures tonight and get them up tomorrow.

Would it be ideal? Not particularly.. But if all I had at my disposal was a hardtail, that would definitely NOT stop me from getting buck wild on the Mohican trails
