(I confirmed with the park office - 10:00 pm all year - and updated the trail guide to remove the 'closes at dark' reminder.)

Didn't believe me huh?

"But officer, we're not trespassing; those signs are wrong! The park really is open - I read about it on the internet!"

Nothing personal, it's just that I wanted to be certain before spreading this all over facebook and other forums. Like Santa Claus and the tooth fairy, it's almost too good to be true!

Looking forward to my first-ever night ride at Maybury tonight...

Standing water in some places, but it felt firm, like water over gravel. The new section overlooking the horse trail and stream that's often a quagmire was firm and dry.

Great ride. I usually don't like riding alone at night, but then you're never really alone at Maybury.

On October 17 I rode Maybury and attempted the rock garden just before the trail split for the B Loop and crashed pretty bad. I hit the rocks wrong and flipped over the handle bars landing on my head. I chipped two teeth, hurt my neck and to top it all off, I landed in poison ivy. I'm all good though, I survived to tell the story. I just thought I'd let you all know that somewhere out there is poison ivy and to make any precautions to avoid it. It sucks getting poison ivy.

Sorry to hear about your crash...it's never fun. But FYI Maybury and many of SE Michigan trails are FILTHY with P.I.

I can see it everywhere in ground cover and vine form.

But I am also lucky that I am semi immune to it...If I get it at all it is a small bump or 2 and goes away fairly easily with care.

Sorry to hear about your crash, hope you feel better.

Maybury is in good shape, the rain has compacted the sand making it faster than usual.
Couple pics from Maybury probably the most underrated trail in SE Mi.

Second that! And for a really fun time, strap on those lights and ride after sunset. Maybury at night is like a whole new trail. The deer were saying WTF. I keep wondering about that ghostly coughing I kept hearing in the distance though.

Couple leaners need to go but besides that, the place is fast.

Yeah, the colors in the woods at Maybury were off the hook this year - - seems that the trees all conspired to fire up the leaf coloration at the same time....it was spectacular!

Be forewarned that there are numerous downed trees over the trail in the first two miles. They are likely the results of Wednesday's windstorm. The park has been notified and will be taking care of it shortly.

Great ride in at Maybury, still some trees that are leaning, they are marked for removal. Some slick spots but overall trail is great shape.
