And on the down hill and free ride corse near the largest drop and the gap jump there is quite a late tree down, Idk how it goes of removing them. If I could take a chainsaw in there but is that against rules Idk, it would be Awsome to have that trail cleened up, me and a few buddies r going out latter this week. Is it alright to take shovels and reshape the lips on some of the jumps? Please reply

you can chain saw the tree out but you have to mention it to the guys in the maintenance building so they know youre up there. Re-shaping the lips is fine

Has anyone seen evidence of bears at the ski area? I got a call that a homeowner has heard some cubs out there.

For those that like to connect the ski area and Luton into one ride, we're adding a short loop of singletrack half way between the two trails. Trail work day is tomorrow morning to build the new trail. Merrell has agreed to provide us with lunch and they're going to give away some free stuff, including maybe a pair or two of shoes to random volunteers. For details see the post in the "volunteers" section of this forum- Cannon Township trail.

Decent condition as of today. Sand not really an issue anymore.

Think I'm doing a night ride out there tonight (weather permitting).

Good question on trail closing date.

The trail guide says Nov. 8 but not sure if that was last year's date? Regardless, looks like roughly 1 week prior to gun deer season so Bambi has time to hide....

The sign at the trailhead says "Mountain bike trails are closed during hunging season and ski season (from November 9th until the end of March, or early April)"

The last day for riding this year is going to be Sunday, Nov. 13th. New management pushed it back for us as far as they could. A big thanks goes out to Cannnonsburg Ski Area for continuing to allow us access to their private land! :D

+1! :D

And thanks to you and the others who work on this trail and the others in the Belmont/NE GR/Rockford area. We are truly blessed to have such awesome trails. The amount of work that went into clearing out the mess that logging made prior to the Fun Promotions race and the State Games event was tremendous. Thank you.

Are they allowing night-riding out there?? I know Luton does not....just curious. Don't want to upset the applecart out there.

I'm pretty sure you can night ride at the Ski Hill. I do and I see others doing it as well. There are no signs indicating you can't.

Actually you can't. There are two reasons the ski area is closed from Nov to April. One is the deer hunting that takes place for the owners and employees only, then there is the fall ski preparation and springtime ski cleanup that takes place. Both of these preparations include trenching, repairing water lines, high voltage lines and placing snowmaking equipment. The liability is high for someone to get injured from these activities. If you see night riders, they are breaking the rules, same at Luton or the Game Area.
