Burchfield Trail Day, Sunday Sept. 11

Postby jonw9 » September 5th, 2011, 4:26 pm

A trail day to prepare for the upcoming race.
Things to be done include bridge preparation/installation on Swamp Thing, clear the trails of debris and face slappers, a bit of mowing/weed whacking, and general upkeep to get things in shape for race day (Oct. 2)

Plan on meeting at Riverbend parking area at 09:00. We can split up from there, depending on the turnout.

There are several chapter members who need a couple more trail hours for FAFL. Come on out.

Got the steel beams moved off the main trail and to the install location. They still need to be set in the exact spot though. Thanks to park employees Tim and Chris. They provided the heavy equipment and the brains! Still took us over 3 hours though. Heavy muthas.

Glad we decided not to carry them then!

Will we be in shape to bolt them together on Saturday?

I have to ask... What all are you building with these beams?

Yep. But I also got the decking boards cut and I realize I am waaayyy short on those though. Will make a trip to Gilberts and also will go dumpster diving at the park. They have a bunch of wood we can use.

Anyone who can make it, please bring a cordless drill if you can. Thanks.

Huge problem the Playmakers Burchfield Triathlon is also this Saturday at 8:00. The bike course runs around the area and they should have 1 lane of road open to car traffic to get around. The real problem is the run course goes down Grovenburg to Nichols and INTO Riverbend Area. I'll almost guarantee the Riverbend Parking area will be completedly locked out from about 5am to noon. McNamara will be the only place to park saturday morning. You could park in the main park, which I recommend you avoid at all costs, no one is allowed to leave the main park until the last biking participant has finished.

http://www.playmakersclassictri.com/ has maps of the course and other info

Thanks Paul,

I will look into it, maybe Macnamara is the place to meet, although it is not close to the work area.

Perhaps we should look into rescheduling the day.

Good call Paul. I think we should reschedule. If we park at McNamara it is about a 1.5 mile walk to the work site. Not ideal. If I can get two people out after work tonight or even this afternoon.... we can get a lot done. Otherwise I am booked on Thurs and Fri.

Anyone available?

So, do you want to move to the 18th?
The 17th is the Triple Trail, and the Expo, so most of the "standard" volunteers will be unavailable.

I can't get out there any weekday afternoons, and evenings this week look tight.

That's fine, if people are going to show.

I will be racing that day.

I can do it Sunday. We get one more person on board and we can get started.

Earlier is better, but I defer to everyone else's schedules.

I changed it to Sunday. The time is as flexible as you want it!
