Good point, those are helpful, as sort of a band aid, but they don't seem to hold up long term as people tend to ride around them and then wear in a new route that bypasses the water bypass. I noticed they made a bunch of them at Luton recently. There are a couple at the new armored section at the very end of Egypt Valley also, but made from those flagstones that they armored that little hill with. I'm not sure if those will work better as they can last longer made out of stone, but I did notice people are riding around them to the left.

It seems to me that those shallow angled depressions cause more erosion into the trail than they are worth.
There were a couple of spots at Luton where these were built into the hardened banked edge of curves and at bench cuts and softened the trail and washed it away.
Not good!

I was also surprised by the amount of erosion damage I saw today. It seems like we either get zero rain or 4 inches all at once. In the past, the Ski area has seemed to weather the storms much better but I guess this year, mother nature has won the battle.
I also noticed a lot of blue ribbons stretched from tree to tree in the woods. Is there an event planned for this weekend or is that just left from some prior event that never got cleaned up? I hope not the latter as we need to make every effort to stay on the good side of the owners and I doubt not cleaning up after ourselves is the right way to do that!

The downhill riders used the excess blue tape to mark parts of the DH or Skills area. Definitely not left over from the State Games. Few of us personally cleaned up after that.

I really didn't think the trail was all that bad compared to the beating other trails are taking, mainly Yankee. The Wall climb is pretty much a sand dune now, but momentum still gets you 99% of the way up. Without that, it would be a monster of a climb.

Correct, momentum is key. Ski area is far more sandy then im used to but still ok. I had no problem with the larger hill if that is what is called the wall. I didnt think it was that steep, the one at yankee is steeper than this one. Still cant believe how badly the loggers raped the woods.

Removing all those trees must of made the land owner & loggers lots of $$ but it made a mess out of the trails & woods, thats probable why the (wall) is all sand & hard to get up.

I believe logging 'flattened' the wall a little. It's coming close to re-route time for that hill, but hopefully we can maintain a good climb in that area.

I was looking at that last time I was there. That hill is in terrible shape and is only getting worse. It looks like you could take the hill around to the left a little and still have a fairly steep climb, but perhaps a more sustainable one...

Rode Monday and the trail was clear, dry and fast...except for "the wall". That hill was so dry and loose I couldn't pedal up it (and usually I can).

Please dont dumb down that small hill because u all have problems making it up. No offense, I dont know your skill levels. I did three laps saturday and made it up no problem all three times. U have to pick the right line, stay seated, and use ur momentum and its just another hill. :)

FYI
There is a Healing Fields flag event going on starting today @ the ski hill. A flag will be placed for each person killed on 911 over 3000. The flag placement is starting today with the event over the weekend, then removal on Monday & Tuesday & each flag will be removed, folded & stored. So there will be more traffic there for the viewing & it is open to the public.

Mark-you beat me to it. I would recommend riders avoid the area for riding with all due respect to the ceremonies and victims. The owners may close the trailhead as well anyway

Trail closed for ceremonies. Go see it. As a staff ski instructor there I am very proud of Cburg for what they're doing to honor 9/11. The new owners are great.

Tree down (near BW-2 on the online trail map) but not blocking. It's at the end of a fast sweeping left turn after a lengthy downhill section and the amount of leaves make it appear the tree is blocking.
