Pulled pork AND beer!!! Now this is my kinda race

Looking forward to it - should be a good warmup for the Grampion!

:?: Has anyone seen that boa constrictor since it escaped a few months ago?

Though small, you are still outside its target market. Ride without fear! :D

Standard XC style race. Multiple laps (varies by category) with each category starting together.

For what it's worth, Addison is in absolutely beautiful shape right now. We expect that this will hold true through race day. It's an outstandingly fun trail.

For a taste of the race, here's a video put together by Landshark Racing of last year's race.

Food
Free (for racers) pulled pork, burgers or veggie burgers. Non-racers are welcome to enjoy the food, but we do ask that you consider a donation. 185lbs of pork is getting smoked just for the occasion! For the non-pork lovers, we’ll also be grilling burgers, dogs and veggie burgers. This year, our pit master is bringing along some of his own hand crafted sauces to complement your savory sandwich.
Food will start being served between 12:30 and 1:00 pm.

Swag Drawing
With lots of good sponsors, we’re going to have a loaded swag table. As always, we will hold our swag drawing after the Beginner racers have finished racing. No one likes to listen to us pull number after number out of the bag of people who’ve already gone home. So this year, we’re doing things a bit differently. You’ll find a 2-part raffle ticket stapled to the back of your number plate. Notice, the numbers on the ticket correspond to the number on your number plate. This is so we can call your name when we pull the ticket, rather than just a number.

-Listen for the announcements over the mic.
-At 3:30 pm, we’ll start announcing that its time to drop your ticket into the drawing box.
-Remove the unstapled part of the ticket from your number plate and bring it to the announcers table (MMBA tent). There will be a box available for you to drop your ticket into.
-At ~4:15, we’ll start the prize drawing.

The course is marked at 6 miles. Does the race do some extra sections to make it 7 miles per lap?

7 miles is an approximation. The trail is just over 6 miles trailhead to end (and does include a bit of 2-track and a short paved section). There will be added to this some paved/grass areas for the Start/Finish "chutes" which will get us closer to the 7 miles. AFAIK, there will be no added sections of singletrack.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to sport category this year and I have only done time trials so far. I'm usually south of average for sport for time trial, though I'm with the pack. What do you recommend for this race? As I said, it will be my first XC race. The trails I have ridden the most are Poto, Maybury, Stony, with a few others thrown in. I do about a 34 minute lap on Maybury, maybe a bit faster these days.

Thanks

A 34 minute lap for Maybury is pretty respectable. I'd go with Sport, but you have to realize that you will be doing 3 laps. You don't want to blow your wad out in the first lap, and be draggin' tail for the next 2.

That being said, you will likely find Addison to be a lot easier to do laps on than the other trails you mentioned. Of course, I may be biased in this matter.... :D
