Funny that you ask.... I think precisely because of those reasons this should be canceled. Way too much water out there right now, and there's more to come. Better to schedule a trail day when there's some trimming to do in June or so.

Well, the time has come.... The waters have receded (mostly) and the resulting growth has started to become an irritant. Oh, and the ruts....

Saturday, June 18, 9AM (rain date 6/19), we shall meet behind the Maintenance Building. Bring the usual stuff: water, work gloves, long pants, and lots of bug spray. Kids willing to walk and throw sticks are welcome, as there is a fair amount of deadfall to provide "ammo".

Humanoids willing and able to wield (and supply) weed whackers are especially welcome, as the more we have, the faster we can finish.

I will endeavor to supply Gatorade, coffee, and bagels. 'Cause I like bagels.

Will do, I work well with a can/hr of dew. Can go all day on that slime...haha.

People willing to operate gas powered line trimmers will make this go fast.

The trailer has a power hedge trimmer, a line trimmer, and a blower. If these three go off as a team, that will be best.

A second team can be created as it appears that a couple of line trimmers will also be there as well as another blower.

Hopefully a third team will do a bunch of manual trimming and will have "Trimmaster Bob" in a golf cart providing transportation, as well as direction.

Bring ear protection and EYE PROTECTION as well as long pants. These power tools create a lot of mayhem.

3 to 4 line trimmers will make very short work of things. I am coming up with a plan (such as it is) to best deploy the humanoids we get. Even if we don't get 100% coverage, we will make a big difference.

FWIW, I recruited a 12 yr. old from the MISCA RBS team (through his Mom, anyway) who will be camping there over the weekend and needs hours for NHS.

If we do this right, we won't need to do this again until the race.

Thanks to Pete, Mark, Norbert, Jon, and Pauly, we got all of the major, and most of the minor areas of need out there today. If everyone trims face-slappers as they see them, we likely won't need to do this for a couple months.

It was actually a great time out there Bob. Thanks for the Gatorade and Bagels! I will carry my hand snips with me out there periodically this summer and snip away when I can. Thanks again and can't wait to get the bike out there!
