Just making sure, but if I have no tools could I still be useful? Also do you guys work on the skills park or is that a seperate thing?

I'll jump in here and say that we have extra tools in the trailer, so yes, you will be "used. And also, the skills park will likely be a separate thing.

The simple clean-up will be to walk the trail and clear debris, trim branches, etc..
One of the more important tasks will be to cover-up the concrete armoring on the Snakes up near the top.
The second big task will be to "fix" the eroded final climb to the summit of Mt Shelden.

The trailer has plenty of tools to be used by all eager volunteers.

Bring gloves and lots of water..Many will use their camelbak...

Thank you to the dozen or so volunteers who were able to show-up today.
Mike lead a small clean-up crew through the Pines, and the rest of us worked on the erosion leading up to the summit of Mt Shelden. The trail tread has been restored and re-defined. it looks nice now.

We were hoping to create a new trail that would have circled all the way around the summit of Mt Shelden while not actually going directly to the "parking lot" on top but the terrain would not support a trail there.

A bit of trail screening was also added to help disguise an area where the trail doubles-back and passes a few feet from itself.

I can't wait to try out that new rockgarden. Some big hits to get into the good line but i's not like I'll have any momenmtum to loose

Nope. Top o' mount Sheldon. Where the big washout was we fixed it. It's not really meant to be ridden there is a good clean dirt line to the outside of teh turn but if you cut it inside you could bounce along for a good 30 feet. Some big ones too.

we filled in a hole after the boardwalk with some rock making a small rock garden there but I also reloaded the original rock garden as it has become a path through the rocks so now it is back to being a rock garden

As Pete said, thanks to all that braved the nice weather and came out to help maintain one of the most used trails in SE Michigan

sun, rain, snow, clouds, wind,... ...all 4 seasons in one afternoon
but always good to give some love back to my home trail
