So... what was the result at the Expo?

Did the new board hand the keys over to IMBA?

If you are really interested, talk to those in your chapter, as that's where the information will be coming forth from.

Should have stopped by and picked up your trinket and listened to the speakers, if you are truly interested and not just trying to troll.

Yup, the keys, our wallets, titles, and deeds. We have all been assimilated. Sorry you missed it.

I have a question, what happens to the endowment made by REI to fund a trail school?

Endowments to the MMBA directly are kept by the MMBA. Just as endowments to IMBA stay with IMBA.

You welcome. I thought it was a worthy response to your attempted trolling.

I'm trying to find out what the heck is going on with the MMBA. With all the pronouncements being made leading up to the Expo it seems strange that nothing has of yet been posted about this decision.

It's not trolling to ask about this. It's relevent to the subject of this thread.

Pretty much everything we know has been discussed in this thread. The expo wasn't really about IMBA or one-stop shopping on the IMBA bandwagon. Van Abel's speech wasn't about becoming an IMBA chapter, but about advocacy, how we achieve our goals, and that first and foremost, our identity is that of mountain bikers rather than advocates. We are mountain bikers, but advocacy is something we do.

The IMBA thing is going to be a process, so there is no one point where we have all the answers. The state board is not making us IMBA chapters, YOUR CHAPTER board is doing it, so they are who you need to speak with regarding the process.

How is it going to affect you at the local level? I don't foresee it really changing anything. How is it going to affect the state level? It's going to allow us to be more involved at the local level and on the state advocacy level.

If you were a MMBA member, you'd know what was said in the newsletters.
If you attended the Western Chapter MMBA meeting, you'd know the timeline and plans.
If you attended the Annual Meeting, you'd know the further information that was presented.

Did we hand the keys over? You're post was an obvious troll. But, since you can't be bothered to actually get involved and find out, nothing has been done other then decide to continue down the path of application, which each chapter will do individually. Line in the sand timeline, at this point, is shooing for July 2011.

You had an opportunity to talk to the entire MMBA board as well as representatives from from IMBA to ask all the questions you wanted but you passed. Mike Van Abel from IMBA was very forthcoming with facts, what the chapter program is designed to do and the vision of the IMBA chapter program. He didn't dodge any questions and was very helpful and open.

We encourage everyone to ask questions, share input and help steer the direction of the MMBA. However, there is a difference between wanting to be involved and part of a sustainable solution vs. taking pot shots on a forum and not caring enough to make phone calls or show up to the annual meeting.

If you want to hear the programs structure in detail, PM me, we'll set up a time to chat and I'll forward you all the info I have. If you are just here to troll and play games, there are lots of other forums that are better suited for it.

Thank you for at least attempting an answer. I'll ignore the snide comments.

I spoke with several people already who attened the Expo, but none of them had any info on this matter specifically.

I've reached out to others in my local chapter for more information, since it's obvious that no one's going to get an honest answer in here.
