There is a group riding the VASA single track on Thursday @ 6:30 pm.

So, that page says they will be riding "Marked and unmarked single track". I don't live in the area, camp at Timberridge about once a year, and have taken a liking to the Vasa Single. But I'd like to find out more about the "Unmarked" single track accessible in that area.

Not that I know of. Arcadia would be the closest marked trail since I think Pyramid Point is a hike-only area.

Just want to say had a real good time riding this trail area by Traverse City. It was the first time for my wife. We went on Thursday July 29 and the weather was pleasant. Another nice thing was that there was new trail signage all the way around the trails. A good first-time trail for someone who hasn't done it before. Sand was hard and easy to ride.

Bruno's Run was fun today-the trail is well taken care of. There were two small trees down, and in fact a third downed tree had a reroute already. Take advantage of the beautiful dry weather on this rooty trail while it lasts! Several areas were recently worked on with some rerouting.

The first erosion rereoute at Cadillac Pathways (just before #6) is done but not signed yet. There is pink flagging before the reroute as an alert to the trail closure. Please do not remove the branches and logs temporarily blocking the original trail! I'll be working on the rest of that downhill area coming into #6 next.

How is the VASA singletrack's condition? Rode it last year and we're going up to stay at Timber Ridge next week. I'm gonna ride every day, so I'm curious how's the single track looking?

VASA has the usual August sand.....frequent, loose, and deep.

Otherwise, it's in great shape although there's lots of arm and helmet slappers out there.

So, is the Unmarked trails secret or you just need to know where to look?

It's best to have a guide when attempting to ride the unmarked trails for the first time. It's VERY easy to get lost out there and it's a big area of nothingness.

I haven't rode the VASA in forever... I was going to take my 7 and 9 year old sons out there. They have a good amount of biking experience - but the full trail I'm sure is too much. Are there any cutbacks so they could do about 4-6 miles of the trail?

There is a 3 mile loop, a 10 mile loop, and a 13ish mile loop. For the 3 mile, just make a left at marker 3, following the sign for Kinglet Trail back to the parking lot.

And clever use of Perch Lake rd, the VASA ski trail, and the double track can produce other loops. Or, like me, take wrong turns on said shortcuts and end up taking even longer. It's like Stony, but five times bigger!

I stayed at Timberridge and rode four days in a row on the VASA singletrack. It was nice riding right from my campsite, right through the woods to the trialhead. Great trail, with beautiful scenery, nice and flowy. Next year I need to learn some of the unmarked trails. Kudos to the trail managers.

The trail is in great shape. The Thunder Bay Trails Alliance crew prepped it nicely for the race today (thank you) including raking all of the deadfall off of the tread! The course is fun, as usual. Hopefully this afternoons rain firmed up a couple of the sandy spots, but none of them were very big. This trail is a Gem!!
