Looking for Mountain Bike Companion

Postby HHR SS » May 21st, 2010, 8:07 am

Hello to all,

I am placing this post for my wife. She is fairly new to the mountain biking sport and is looking for someone to bike with her at Stoney Creek, Lakeshore, or Mayberry after work. Peferably someone that is also a beginner so they can ride at the same speed. My wife is 27 years old, has a 10 month old son named Noah, has been married for 6 years and works as a nurse at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. If you are interested please respond to this post or just call me at 810 650-5781, my name is Kevin.

She should just post up when she would like to ride and where in the Ride Announcements forum. I'm sure she would have no problem hooking up with someone riding out there, especially since those are about the 3 most popular trails in the metro area. Well, Island Lake is probably in there too... :D

Hey Kevin!

I'm not really a beginner, but my passion is helping beginner women get into the sport. I'd love to meet your wife and ride with her sometime. I can do any of those trails you mentioned after work (I work in Farmington Hills, live in Mt. Clemens). ILRA is also a great place for beginners to gain confidence.

I'm at Stony for most of the Wed night group rides and I ALWAYS ride in the back to help out any beginners and make sure everyone gets where they need to be. Your wife is welcome to come join us (and you as well .. hehe) and we can go at whatever speed she is comfortable with. There's at least one other somewhat beginner woman who's out most Wednesdays, so it would be really great for her to come out! Its also nice because you could come along as well and ride with the group, knowing that she'll be "taken care of" ...

I would be interested in riding with you all on the Wednesday evenings at Stoney. What time do you meet up and do you meet right at the trailhead? Thanks, Jessica

We meet at 6:30 (roll out at 6:45) at Stoney Creek High School on the corner of Tienken and Sheldon Rd MAP.

I'm pretty easy to spot ;) ... I usually wear a pink and black Trails Edge jersey and I have long dreadlocks :)

Just want to give a +1 to the Stoney Wednesday group rides for you Jessica. Marty is really great at helping ALL the beginners. The pace is very relaxed and enjoyable. Wish I could get out more often on Wednesdays!!!

Another word of wisdom Jessica. There is an OLD man out there that seems nice enough, but watch out, he is VERY creepy! I think he may go by the name of "utabintarbo" from what I've heard!

This is because you kick the box....but I digress...

Jessica - go ride with Marty - SHE IS GREAT! No worries, just get out there and have some fun!

If you want to ride the west side of the D (Island, Maybury, Brighton) - let me know. I live out in Brighton and ride all the time.

I assume this is still happening at Stony Creek on Wednesdays? My wife has a beautiful bike that's been sitting for about 7 years almost untouched and she's toying with the idea of using it again, but I "ride too fast" for her. Would be great to hook her up with some others at her level. She fits the description above almost exactly as well, so it sounds like it would be a good fit.

Wednesday night @ Stony happens all season long (and sometimes in the winter too, if we are feeling tough enough)
