LBS around Oakland County

Postby stirfryguy » April 19th, 2010, 8:51 pm

I'm getting ready to get into road biking. I'm not looking to do races (yet) but this is more for fun and endurance training. I'm looking for a recommendation on a bike shop. I'm planning on going to Fraserbikes since I feel this have most of the brands (Felt, Specialzed, Cannondale etc) but I've been there two times so I can't really get a judgement on how they shop is.

Any recommendations for a bike shop that I should go to?

I will have to say the Fraser is the place to go for a road bike, just my shameless plug for my favorite shop.

I've never been to fraser bikes but I've always heard good things about them. Kinetic systems in Clarkston is a road oriented shop. They are also sponsors the the Flying Rhino's cycling club. Every week they rent out the waterford road racing track and do coaching sessions, mock races and mock time trials. They also work on things like rotating pace lines, etc. It's really laid back and a lot of fun. No experience is necessary. I've never road raced but I enjoy doing the mock races at the track. It's a great introduction to road riding in groups in a very safe environment. It's also a great way to get a taste of what racing is like without having to enter a full blown race.

Thanks a lot for the response. Since I'm in Royal Oak right now, I'll be checking out Fraser but I'll defiantly have to stop in at Kinetic. I just checked out their site and their cycling club looks great. That would be something I would love to do; and will and be great for an intro to potential races.

Thanks for the help.
