We started and managed to stay warm enough until we were shielded from some of the wind and, eventually, the wind died down some. We had to take some layers off!
Chris starts out on the inner loop trail:
Chris, from a distance, on a ridgeline:
Amazinbgly, this is on top of a ridge!
Me, taking in the view. The grassland below was a dark shade of red, which is a beautiful contrast with the orange and tan earth tones of the rock...and add in the white of the gypsum rock, too, it made for a gorgeous scene.
Chris gets ready to ride a technical descent.
...and he's off!
Chris approaches the sharp right turn...
He's turning...
...and he doesn't make it...hits the rock on the far side.
Chris goes down the last part of the descent into the valley.
Chris crosses the valley floor after the descent.
It may look like a wheelie, but this is the begining of a jump I made. There were several natural jumps to add some spice.
One sweet line!
Chris at the top of a hill with the Sandia Mountains clearly in the distance at over 30 miles away. A very clear day.
It's not a great trail in New Mexico without some scarey exposure!
A great shot of gypsum rock. There is a salt mine on top of White Mesa, which is nearby.
These pictures are from one of two cameras. I'll post more in a few days with video, too.
