Got in a rail trail , dirt road ride out to the Poto trail head and it was snow , round trip .
Started out more wet and muddy , but 20 min.'s into the ride and any more snow we would have had white conditions going down Monk's and Kelly Rd.'s .
It was that heavy , wet , clingy kind oof snow that kind of muffles the sound out of everything .
By the time I got to the trail head it looked to be an inch or more . When I turned around to head home it started coming down with big heavy flakes Half way home I had snow piling up on the top of my shoes . I could have taken one of those bike tracks in the snow shots , but ah , no camera .
Going down Monks Rd. a Red Tailed Hawk glided out over head , silently going about his business in the woods . That was the high light .
Didn't ride any of the Poto . Way to much rain the last couple of days . This alternate circuit I do isn't all that bad for off trail riding days . It's got some good climbs as I think the dirt rd.'s traverse some of the same ridglines that the Poto travels . Which means a half way decent workout for an old fart , fat butt like myself .
I had good ride on the Monkey ( yeah ,I ride a 29er
) . Hope some of you all got out today to play in the snow .
Have Mcleod , will travel .
