Western: Cannonsburg Ski Area

For posting trail-specific conditions and problems

Postby mntn-biker » November 28th, 2005, 10:37 am

I called the Cannonsburg Ski Resort this morning to see about sneaking a ride in while it is still 50 something degrees. They said the trails are closed to biking for the season. Maybe the TC could update the "tag" on the Trail Guide page???

Anyone know when Cburg Ski Area opens? Is it open now?

Maybe call them and ask??? Seems like I read someplace that the trails would possibly be open but we'd need to stay off the hills since there still may be some snowpack.

If you call or ride there, let us know what you find out.

I'm pretty confident the cannonsburg ski area trails are open. I rode them last weekend and didn't see anything indicating they are closed.

I just called Cannonsburg Ski Area. They said they are officially open. Maybe the TC can update the status?

I rode Cburg Ski Area today. Trail is very clearly marked from the races. Nice... Which leads me to my question. Is the direction of the course marked now 'backwards' to anyone else? Or have I been riding it backwards all this time? Do other people ride the trail one way or do you just mix it up out there?

Just wondering.

FWIW... Either way you go it seems like you're going uphill more than down.

backward trail postings?

Postby cmushaun » May 8th, 2006, 1:00 pm

I rode the trail last night (5/7/06) and it seemed backwards to me as well. The trail is in great shape though.

Direction of trail

I did mark the trail backwards for the Tuesday night race on May 9th, but then switched it around for the May 16th race. Check out the course this Tuesday. More information is available at www.milkjugracing.com

Rode it today... great job on the new and imporved trails!
It's not a bike, it's a message.

I'd rather ride my bike than operate it.

This is not a business, it's a hobby out of control

I agree. Rode it last night and its a lot more technical on the first section. Quite a surprise after the warm-up climb  .

Great job!
