Lets say I want to ride stony after dark. Park at the high-school and ride in? What is the likelihood of me getting hassled if I stick to the trails? My light is plenty bright, I just wanna see how well it shines on the singletrack.

It's unlikely.

Do not ride stony after dark! I was caught one night by park rangers. I was shackled, beaten for hours, burned with cigarette butts and had to watch as they hacked my bike to pieces. Not cool. Plus they threatened to cut my ear off if I rode in the dark again. Like reservoir dogs.

It was crazy. I've since sold my bike lights.

Of course, you failed to disclose the part about them questioning you regarding sensitive information about strange plants growing around the boat launch being the reason for this treatment. ;-)

I've never made it out to a Wednesday night group ride; what's it like? How many miles total is a normal run? Would it be a good one for novice riders, or a bit much?

Thanks for the info!

It's a just-fine ride for novice riders, as long as you're comfortable on stuff like Stony Creek's single track. It's a no-drop ride, so no one will get left behind. I think the route is right about 8.5 miles, with sometimes a little bit more added on to that optionally by some.

Come on out!

:-D I'm gonna try to get out there a little early to do a warmup on the doubletrack. :-)

I've hurt myself way worse on the road than I ever have on the trails... Nevermind, I stand corrected...

Yeah Di...we are just incredibly picky about what we want so the search has been a bit difficult. Tonights home looks like an excellent match so hopefully we can move forward with it. We'll see...

Somebody had the temerity to pick an inconvenient time to die, so I'll be at a funeral home this evening. :(
