Congrats on your move into the vertical world!!

I LOVE Planet Rock and I really miss it. There aren't ANY good climbing gyms out here in SLC... surprising with all the climbers out here... but I guess they assume everyone would be outside. I really like going indoors in the winter to keep in shape. I climbed usually twice a week in the winter at Planet Rock - it ROCKS!! :-)

I think you'll like it Kevin. as for me I gotta get back to the rock. Nick keeps bugging me about retruning for some bouldering and route setting.

My shoulder is almost better from my crash a couple of months ago once it feels good enough I am going to try out the climbing walls at Lifetime. I climed once or twice at Planet Rock a few years back and had a good time and I would like to try it again. Do you think it's worth it to get climbing shoes? Any idea on cost for them?

climbing shoes are generally around $60 -$70 and up.

Try it a few times first - rent them... and see if it's something you will be doing a lot. Also, check the bulletin board at Planet Rock to see if anyone is selling theirs. I had a pair that I paid $150 (Boreal Aces) for but they were totally too small (you should get them snug but these were unbearable) and I ended up biting it bad and sold them for $75, you can often find good deals like that out there. (note: used shoes - OK, used harness, rope, bieners, etc. -bad)
