How do you store your skiis in season?

Postby DFray » January 27th, 2011, 1:23 pm

Hey there. I'm curious what people's opinions are on warm or cold storage of xc skis while in season. Or maybe better, how long do you leave your skis out to cool to air temp before you hit the trail?

I've had some glide issues this year (karhu pioneer waxless). I use topo wax - the kind that goes on wet from the applicator then gets sponged on to dry.

Any thoughts are welcome! Thanks.

lol...Topo is a good choice to help get some more glide from your waxless skis, but with how the snow has been in my area (between Lansing and Flint), we've got really crappy snow because it has been soooo cold. These past couple of weeks, I don't think waxless would be much good. I would go with the skis that you wax, and use start green to get the best glide. Now, if it's 0 degrees, I just hang up the skis and say screw it. ;-) In the teens, Rex Blue, then I head on up to Swix Red and Toko Yellow for the warmer weather.

I usually sleep with my skiis on, so I get an early start in the morning. My wife usually gets ticked off if I use the sticky wax, it messes up the sheets.

I don't really find a difference with my ski's whether I've brought them in from the car and stored them in the basement or left them in the car overnight. Sometimes the conditions just aren't fast even if you wax with the proper temp wax. I just think of it as I get a better workout when the conditions are slower.
