Anderson Park Conditions 5/18

Postby centralRH » May 18th, 2009, 5:58 pm

As of 5/18 the trail is in rough shape. There is more mud than I anticipated and the last wind put down even more sticks and branches. I will attempt to remove the sticks and branches on Friday during our walk thru with IMBA. Also, the trail corridor we cut in earlier this year has grown in because the tread never got compacted.

Its going to take some work, but I hope it will be in rideable shape by the end of the weekend.

How many miles of trail are in the works for the left side of the road? The side still flagged and in the process...

Between 2 - 3 more miles, depending on how we route the trail. Overall this should put us near 6 miles. Unfortunately we can not use the property on the west side of Wardell, which would allow us to easily get 10 miles.

I rode the Anderson trails for the first time on Sunday. It was even better than I had hoped. My friend Mike and I rode the various informal trails across Lansing on the way out there. Hitting the well groomed park trails after the herky-jerky other trails made us appreciate Anderson even more. Railing through that new pair of banked curves was a thrill. I had just seen the picture of them online. They work great together and they expand my knowledge of what is possible.

Big thanks to Brad for making this happen and seeing it through. Also, thank you to everyone else who raked and sawed and hauled away trash to make that trail into the gem that it is. I have missed a lot of trail work sessions since I stopped coming last year. I still stay busy doing my own trail things but it is especially gratifying to see Anderson Park trails turning out so well.

I agree Joe. When it's all said and done, this is going to be a nice addition to the Lansing area.
