Anderson Park Drop Building May 6th

Postby centralRH » May 3rd, 2012, 7:40 pm

Hone your stunt building skills at Burchfield on Saturday, then come out to Anderson on Sunday to build some drops in the "Playground." I will be there between 8:00 - 8:30 am and plan to work until they are done. I will have the generator, drills, and saws ready to go.

Seriously hope I don't have to work Sunday because I'd love to have a hand in this.

Count me in. I can bring my miter saw/stand, then I won't have to risk cutting through the cord of your skil-saw (again).

Our job on Sunday just got easier. I finished the first drop tonight. Took about 4 hours solo (including hauling the tools and wood to the site). See below for crappy cell phone pics:

Drop is about 2 feet straight up on the right hand post.

Going the other direction. The next one will be about 3.5 feet from level ground. Probably over 4 feet to the landing.

Anderson Park Drop Building May 6th

These are by the "playground"? What are the posts on red, before the single berm, to be used for?

That entire area, from the top of the hill to the road, is the "Playground." Those posts are for drop #2. A trail will split at the top of the hill to loop the just the Playground, so you don't have to ride the entire red loop to session the features. After the drops the trail will catch back in with the current red loop by the berm, or you will be able to cross over and hit a jump leading to the two-track that the blue loop ends on. There will also be a trail that will give you the option to hit these at the end of the red loop. A bit difficult to describe, but it will make sense when complete.

Sweet. The playground is bigger than I imagined. Cool in elementary school, cooler now!

Thanks to everyone for their help today. Second drop went in. Also, there is now a trail that you can use to shortcut and session the red loop. Finally, at the end of the red loop just before the berm in the pine trees , you can cut right and hit an alternate ending. This ending has 2 options. One line is similar to a table top jump, the other is an S-Berm. Both may need a little tweeking, but they are good to go. This provides 4 ways to end the red loop. Careful with drops until you have the confidence to hit them. Saw a few riders complete both today with no damages.

Hope this rain doesn't screw up the dirt work too much. May want to stay off the new jump and S-berm until they dry and firm up.

Also, be sure to check out the excellent work at Burchfield.

The Anderson Playground is closer to living up to it’s name. The new drops and sessioning routes are a nice addition. Hoping we can maintain this construction momentum long enough to knock in at least one or two more features.

After riding the s-curve berms once last night, I agree that the line may need to be tweaked a little. I'll definitely have to go and session everything when I'm not so exhausted from all the trail work!
