Tucson, AZ - Sweetwater trail

I had 5 days of work in Tucson, and with the weather not that hot yet I had to try one of the trails out there.

Rented a bike from http://www.Fairwheelbikes.com $60 a day, $220 a week, call ahead as they can rent out all of their stock. A good hotel "Marriott on University" is in walking distance to the bike shop. The hotel will let you take the bike to your room just don't ride it in the lobby

After looking at all the the local trails (link http://www.sdmb.org/trails.html ) I decided on the sweetwater trail ( link http://www.sdmb.org/Trails/Trail-Sweetwater.html ), because its a rather busy trail (I was ride'n alone) and the trail was not to crazy and not to easy, also a close drive from my work place.

If you are ever in the Tucson area, this place is VERY bike friendly for street and trail.

Thats some great riding out there. My inlaws used to live right down the road from there across from Tuscon Mountain Park. I was there in June so had to ride at daybreak. I also road up in the Santa Catalina Mountains North of town where it was a beautiful sunny 70 deg. day at about 7000'. Good place to beat the heat.

Nice pics! I spent the holidays in Tucson a couple of years ago--had to choose between road and mountain bike and took the roadie so I could ride straight from our condo and I was curious about the "bike friendly," reputation the city has. Figured I could rent an mtb for a day if I wanted to. It was a great trip--didn't actually get to ride as much as I'd hoped because I picked up a bug on the plane and was sick for the first half of our stay but I did get out for a couple of rides. And since I was not up to riding Anne and I got to see a lot of the area which was actually pretty fun. Toured the Biosphere which was pretty cool.

It's an exhilarating/terrifying feeling riding in a bike lane that's 2-3 feet wide on the side of a 6 lane boulevard full of cars going 40-50mph!

I was thinking the same thing, I give a lot of respect to street biking, it's something I do very rarely around here, I might be more into it if Detroit meto. was a little more bike friendly, but that wont change any time soon
