Stony is what I consider "Easy" "Expert" singletrack .
Easy because like you said, you can carry speed and roll / coast up many of the hills. That's how much of the single track was designed and correctly got named "Rollercoaster".
Bloomer has many short steep climbs that will tax the lungs.
Stony doesn't have enough clay to support those steep climbs.
Bloomer doesn't have the volume of traffic like Stony to erode those steep climbs.
Stony gets it's reputation because of the average rider who gets his first taste of rolling singletrack. It's a good stepping-stone for the next level to some, the end all for many others.
All the passionate replies supporting Stony are from riders who enjoy all the trails around here but many consider Stony "home base"....
That's why the MFO got started. (That's a whole other thread......)

I like the look of this route. I am getting a bit turned around trying to following it... Are the directions marked consistent with standard trail direction?

More directly, does this map represent the trail for the 6 / 12 hour race route only, or are the the trail directions standard in that this route could be ridden any day?

I suspect that's because there's a couple spots which have shared intersections. I did my best to represent these with the arrows; hopefully that helps.

And yes, all the trail segments are used in their usual directions. To note, the two track (easier and more difficult) trails aren't directional. All the single track used is in the typical direction. Thus, this is available for riding at all times. You won't generally get in someone's way riding this route.

I think the biggest potential confusion spots are near 26/27 and 12. These segments proceed as follows:

1-27-26-25
25-Golf Course Climb-26-Start/Finish
24-15-12-17
11-12-Past Shelden Estate Wall

Hope that helps...
