Lol. A month back I rode Squirrel Gap at Pisgah alone. Got to NC from KY at around 2 PM didn't eat and went straight to the Hub, got the map and instructions and Pisgah here I come! Got a little lost over there and around 6PM started worrying If I should just come back the way I came. Got back in time, and the next day rode all of the DuPont singletracks. Itching to go back to NC.
Edit: I prefer to ride alone or with faster/more skillful rider.
"Flow" is characteristic of the rider, not of the trail.

You can make me grow old, which you obviously did, but you can't make me grow up!

Troof. I started my own fat and slow thread - feel free to post your rides in there (even if you're not fat).

I ride alone for the most part. If you ride a lone be sure you can walk out if you break a bone or your bike. Even at the farm there are dangers (ref; prior report of broken ankle)
Snow, cold, dark rides are both the best and most dangerous rides you can do alone. The Tree Farm, in the dark with 2" or 3" of show is my faviorte ride. Unfortunatly it is not allowed any more.

If you break down at 20 degrees , you have about 10, maybe 15 minutes to make a repaire or hike-a- bike out.

If you ride alone under risky conditins, ride a loop trail that you can walk out of. For example Island lake's trails are all close to a road.

Just plan ahead for a possible breakdown. Don't depend on your cell.

I appreciate you post but don't agree. I have done some of roughest rails in the country by myself. It would have been nice to have someone with me when I ran into my 1st bear or bobcat, sure. But living your life paralyzed by fear of what may happen is a terrible way to live.

My son and I ride the Ionia trails quite a bit. I let him lead and at the beginning of the season it was a scenic pedal through the woods. Now I find myself having to keep up. The old man still has more hot air at the end of the trail though
