Everyone was very supportive and professional during the whole thing, from the MTB patrol guy (name escapes me, rides for the Grayhounds. Made a great sling out of a bike tube) to the park supervisor who drove me out in the golf cart on steroids, to the paramedics/EMT people.
Can't remember much about the crash, except it was completely my fault. broken ribs and collarbone, i'm done for the year, but will continue to race all future events at this great course.
Thanks again.

I'm not exactly a circuit pro, but I've been to my fair share of races (road, mountain, running, orienteering, etc., etc.) and this was the best of any category. The timing, ease of finding things/people, spotters on the trail, announcer, swag, everything was top notch. My wife (a triathlete) agreed that she hadn't seen a better race.

Admittedly this gent was fast, and asked me to move (none too politely, but not real angrily either). When he approached the young rider just in front of me, he shouted in a very mean way "get out of the way, Masters here, move move move, come on! Move it! Let's go little guy, out of the way!!!" etc. etc. A constant barrage, top of his lungs, clearly very angry. The age difference between these fellows appeared to have been at least 30 years. I told him to stop being an ass and he cooled it a bit, but this is unacceptable. I guess what I'm saying is this sort of stuff happens, but let's not let the haters get away with it. I didn't catch the guy's number or team.

What a great day to ride a really well-put-together course. Woot chapter.

I really wish that asshats like this just wouldn't participate. This is a race, which means a shared trail, and part of that is passing those who are slower than you. If you can't do this in a courteous manner then you don't belong out in the group.

A racer is only as good as his/her ability to pass safely, politely, and quickly no matter what the situation. There are a ton of great places to pass at AO. Hope he didn't deter any new riders. Then of course there is also starting in Elite. Not as many youngsters to pass there.
