I'm trying to decide on SS gearing for this race. I use 32/18 on my 29er but if there are no brutal climbs and a lot of flatter straight sections at Addison Oaks, I wouldn't mind a bit more top end. These old legs can only spin so fast.
Thanks in advance.

I like running a 2:1 on a 29er at Addison, but it sounds like you run a lighter gear to begin with. I would go up one cog in the rear based on what you run at Pontiac.

Got in two laps while helping to mark the course this evening.
WOW.
Pauly has been very busy. As-of 6:00 pm tonight, the place is perfect! :D
I saw one 6" puddle.
Many, many small improvements have been added lately, and the place is FAST!
Keep in mind, Addison HAS NOT been getting the rain that places South have been getting.

Thanks Paynful, All I could find was a 16T (shout out to Trails Edge - great shop!) so I will also be running 2:1

Wish I knew.

But, I do know that even after the rain we had earlier this week, the trail was in PERFECT shape yesterday. Pauly has built a trail that handles rain nicely, and drains very well. No matter what happens, I'm pretty sure the trail will be in great shape.

On the upside, per NWS radar it looks like most of the rain stayed south of Rochester / Pontiac. Maybe we'll get another weird situation like last week where northern Oakland County has stayed dry.

Here in Lake Orion it rained all night, and some of it was heavy at times. The rain didn't stop until around 8:00 this morning. Addison may have escaped some of it, at least let's hope so. But a lot of Addison will drain well, parts will have puddles, and other parts may be muddy. Depends on what tonight and tomorrow brings. Right now it appears that it will have a chance to dry some before the next round of forecast rain.

It looks like Addison got between .25" and .50" of rain. Generally, the trail will dry nicely, but there are likely to be a few (like less than 5) spots where puddles formed. These will be more of an issue for the Elite/Experts than Sport or Beginner. Unless it rains during the race, of course.

TBH, I'm kinda glad we got this rain, as it will help "bed in" some of the work Pauly has done over the past few days. There was a bit of loose dirt/gravel last night which will likely be quite firm this morning.
