I like running a 2:1 on a 29er at Addison, but it sounds like you run a lighter gear to begin with. I would go up one cog in the rear based on what you run at Pontiac.

But, I do know that even after the rain we had earlier this week, the trail was in PERFECT shape yesterday. Pauly has built a trail that handles rain nicely, and drains very well. No matter what happens, I'm pretty sure the trail will be in great shape.
On the upside, per NWS radar it looks like most of the rain stayed south of Rochester / Pontiac. Maybe we'll get another weird situation like last week where northern Oakland County has stayed dry.
