Bloomer Sunday, May 9th

Postby PK » April 28th, 2010, 6:54 pm

Come out and help to "plant" the 28 signposts we have for the mapping of Bloomer.
Also, the single track needs a bit of clean-up, so the rakes and in a few areas, the gas-powered line trimmers, will be nice to have out there also.

Pete.

According to Derek's post in the Bloomer thread, it's at 8:00AM.
But don't let the early time scare you away. It's a lot of work and some relief helpers will be great!

We will show direction arrows on the map and the signpost are sequential but there is way too many options out there to label every intersection. We're just trying to put in enough posts to give a newbie a "fighting chance" to find their way around...

I will try to make it out there Sunday morning. I tried riding there once, and got totally lost.
Planting some signs with you guys should help me learn the right way to ride it. If I can make it, I will bring my weedwacker.

The weed wacker will be great.
There's a few trails that aren't bad yet, but will be soon. Hacking them back now make it nice for the summer.

Just meeting in the parking lot? I have only been there once, and I don't really remember how it is "shaped".
Anyway, I am planning on being there unless it is POURING rain. A little rain is OK. In my Gray GMC Sierra. I'll be the one in the raincoat and rubber boots weedwacking everything in sight. :o

I can't stay too long though, have to leave by 11.

Yeah Deker/Pete, where we meetin? The main lot? If so maybe by the Kiosk which is on the right by the cricket fields for those not in the know. I know some Bloomer trail days use the back door via the CRT.

If we are meeting in the park any word on free entry if you're workin? It takes me longer to put my bike on the rack than it does to ride to Bloomer so no pass for me.

I would tell them at the gate you are there for the MMBA trail day, most times you can BS your way past the teenager at the booth.
In transition to the northland.
The content of my posts are not the opinions of the MMBA, and should not be construed as such

Plan to meet at the kiosk. First parking lot, on the South side.
It's not BS-ing that gets you in for free. Just tell them you're there with the MMBA to do trail work and you're "golden".

Also, we have (28) 4" X 6" X 8 ft long posts to install. With only one gas powered post hole digger, if we manage to transport the equipment to all the locations and auger a hole every 1/2 hour, we'll be done in a mere 14 hours!
(Please bring any digging tools you may have).

I plan to have my manual post hole digger out there and Lloyd will do the same. Maybe we'll get 1/2 of the posts in Sunday????
