Luton Park trail day this Sunday April 25, 9am

Postby RickPlite » April 19th, 2010, 8:23 am

Join us for a trail day at Luton Park this coming Sunday April 25th at 9:00am. Meet at the Kies St parking lot. We will not have the MMBA trailer, so please bring branch trimmers, shovels, rakes, chainsaws, hammers, gloves and boots for working in mud. We plan to install some 18” wide boardwalks to circumvent the mud pits on the Blue Loop thanks to the generous donations of cash and lumber from Mike Napieralski, Dave George, Bob Baker and Matt Gossman! Without their support this project would not have gotten off the ground. Thanks guys! Other projects for the day include some general maintenance and cutting in a few option routes. We could also take advantage of someone with a 4x4 pick-up truck to drive the boardwalks down to the site. Post up here if you can bring a truck. Lunch provided. Also, post up here if you plan to join us.

Rick,
Hey I have a question. I have not joined MMBA yet (I intend to do so). Are non-members welcome on trail day? Prior to seeing the weather report I had scheduled a group to go riding at 10:00 on Sunday. Could we do the trail day instead? Great news about the 18" boardwalk. I was laying in bed last night thinking of volunteering to build something there so it wouldn't keep getting torn up.

You do not need to be a member of the MMBA to join us. Please come on out, we could use the support. We will work in the rain but we would cancel if it is dangerous thunderstorms that morning. Watch this post for cancellations.

Anyone is welcome. plus they can see the work that is done by the MMBA and may be willing to join up and support the trails that the MMBA maintains.

What is recommended for parking. If I arrive at 10:00 will I need to park somewhere else and walk, or is there normally enough room in the lot?

There should be enough room in the Kies parking lot to park your car. Then we will walk in to the west side of the Blue Loop where it joins the Yellow Loop to begin our work.

Hey Rick,
Marnie and I will be there Sunday. Let me know if you need any additional funding for the project.... we'd be willing to donate for the boardwalk or future projects at Lutton. You can send an e-mail or we can talk Sunday

i'm planning on it. i'll bring an assortment of tools. maybe mother nature will give us a break.

These boardwalks are really going to improve the trail for all user groups. As a frequent user, I wish to offer personal thanks to those that donated time and $$ to making this happen.

Rick,

Count me in. I've got a truck if you need to get the rest of walks to the site. I'll bring some other tools as well.

I've not ridden this trail yet, but have been wanting to get there this summer. Now I have an excuse to get up there and ride!
